“It was a warm and cosy retreat for us. It had everything we needed and more. It's position in the village is great, set back from the road yet within a short walking distance of food shops, a smokery and excellent bookshop. Most of all it's in an ideal position for bird watching on the Cley marshes. The wood burner made our Christmas as did the flocks of Pinkfeet geese flying over. We also liked how it's excellent refurbishment hadn't taken away from the feel of a traditional flint cottage. We loved the piles of lobster pots outside, the fact that locals lived around us and the Sunday newspapers are for sale through a neighbours window! We thoroughly recommend this cottage. ”

Guest Reviews

“This was our first visit to Norfolk. We found Lavender Cottage to be excellent accommodation refurbished to a very high standard. The start of our week in mid May was a bit cool so we had the wood stove going on two occasions, although the electric heating is more than adequate, the stove added an extra touch of cosiness. The living room and bedrooms are very comfortable. Cley next the Sea is a beautiful little village with interesting narrow lanes and great views out past the windmill to the salt marshes, bird sanctuary and huge sky. There is a first class delicatessen, wonderful pottery "Made in Cley" and the Cley Smokehouse with great variety of delicious seafood. The North Norfolk Coastal Pathway runs through the village supported by a half hourly bus service. Lavender Cottage is set back from the road in a little courtyard, there is very little traffic noise during the day and nights are totally quiet. First class cottage in a very beautiful and interesting area.”

“I thought your service and the accomodation was excellent, alas the sun was notable by it's absence and it was colder than i'd hoped but the cottage itself was great, well equipped and we loved the fire.”
