The Dairy is a simply stunning conversion of a traditional Norfolk barn dating back to the 1850s.  Positioned right on Peddar’s Way the famous Roman Road that goes right down to the coast, the barn is a perfect place to have a tranquil holiday. The conversion is of the highest quality and furnished to a very high standard.  Walk into Great Massingham (approx three quarters of a mile) and you will find one of Norfolk’s prettiest villages with two large central ponds and the Dabbling Duck pub.  Dogs are very welcome at The Dairy and the owner helps at dog agility courses held at the farm weekly, so guests will have access to the fully enclosed paddock for exercising their pets. Walking from the barn is peaceful and traffic free.  The whole farm is set in its own grounds of 9 acres complete with resident Alpacas! The accommodation is extremely flexible in that although the barn sleeps 4 plus 2 on a sofa bed, guests will have the option to book the adjoining suite for an extra cost, making it perfect for three couples or multi generational holidays.

“Thank you, my family and I had a very enjoyable stay at The Dairy. The sun didn't shine but the weather was as good as could be expected for the end of October, we only got really wet on one day! I found the Norfolk Hideaways website very good and easy to use and also whenever I had to contact the staff they were very helpful, especially when I had to change my holiday dates and location through my own fault, but they were able to re-arrange it for me and transfer the deposit. I would have no hesitation in recommending Norfolk Hideaways and would definitely use them again should the occasion arise in the future. Thank you. ”

“I'm just back from spending a lovely week at 'The Dairy' - the self-catering part of West Heath Barn. So glad to find such a well-equipped, high quality let that allows my 2 dogs to stay. (To those used to lesser holiday lets, don't pack any kitchen equipment, towels etc. - everything you need is already there!). I knew we were welcome when we drove up and saw the water bowl for the dogs outside the front door! Sue and Mark have done a wonderful job in creating a real home-from-home, and my two dogs enjoyed being able to go into the fields straight from the front door - bliss! Given the wet weather, we were very glad to have a washing machine and dryer on hand for our personal use too. From Great Massingham I was amazed at how quickly we could drive to Sandringham and the north coast - very easy if you use the smaller local roads. Equally convenient for places further afield like Ely and Cambridge - so we had good days out and peaceful evenings at 'home'. Can't recommend it more highly. ”

“The dairy We had the most wonderful stay and you could not hope to find nicer hosts than Sue and Mark. From the second we arrived ( at short notice) we were met with beaming welcoming faces, even Dexter the dog was pleased to see us! The accommodation is top notch with everything you could possibly want. I loved how children ( and dog) friendly it is with an enclosed safe courtyard and paddock for the children to play. Everything was spotlessly clean and even a welcome pack when we arrived was fantastic, milk, bread, tea, even a bottle of wine! ( not to mention some treats too for the dog!) Sue and Mark are delightful nothing is too much trouble and their home is wonderful- the cart lodge will be as wonderful and we will definitely return. We have both travelled the world and can honestly say our time here was a delight. Thanks Mark to for the pleasure of showing us your fantastic airplane in the garden ( what a treat!)!!! Walking to the village was a pleasure through their land. Also, so much nearby to do- old Hunstanton beach, sandringham and burnham market were fantastic. Highly recommended!! ”

Local Area

Great Massingham is one of Norfolk's most attractive villages located approximately 40 miles west of Norwich and 13 miles to the east of King’s Lynn, having one of the most impressive greens in the county. Several large ponds dominate the village, some of which have their origins as the fish ponds for an 11th century Augustinian Abbey. In 2009 the village won a CPRE Community Open Spaces award and in both 2009 & 2010 an ‘EDP Pride in Norfolk’ award for villages with a population under 1000. The North Norfolk coast is a 20 minute drive away.  The village has a thriving community with a shop and also pub called The Dabbling Duck that has an excellent restaurant.
