Hunstanton

Hunstanton is a traditional Victorian seaside town complete with a wonderful sandy beach and fish and chip shops.  It has become a mecca for Kite Surfers and there are regular competitions held over the year.  Buckets and spades are the order of the day and the town bustles during the summer months. The town was founded by Henry Le Strange and in 1846 he had the idea to cash in on the new craze of bathing in the sea by  creating the 'sea bathing station of Hunstanton St Edmund. There are many interesting buildings around the original Victorian town, many in the Arts and Crafts style.  The architect HG Ibberson being responsible for many of the fine buildings.  With grassy peaceful squares, a long promenande and a green that runs down to the bandstand Hunstanton provides a traditional seaside family holiday for everyone. Guests not been to Hunstanton before are always surprised at what a fabulous beach there is, it is one of only a couple that you can actually walk to without crossing the salt marshes, and it is well worth making the detour from the more well known places like Brancaster. The famous red and white striped cliffs are a good source of fossils.
