Sheringham was originally a small fishing village but the arrival of the railway in 1887 turned it in to a popular destination for visitors far and wide. The Poppy Line still operates both diesel and steam engines which run from the pretty station in Sheringham centre along the coast through Weybourne and Kelling and on to Holt. Sheringham is now a bustling town but with a traditional feel, still very much a working fishing port but also home to many diverse shops, great places to eat and lovely walks across the cliff tops or and the pebbly beaches recently awarded a Blue Flag for cleanliness. There is a plenty of family entertainment in Sheringham whatever the weather including The Splash tropical indoor pool with huge water slides and a wave machine. Sheringham also still has a large traditional market on Wednesdays and Saturdays. If you head a little further up the coast the beaches at West Runton and East Runton are worth a visit, East Runton being a popular destination for surfers.
Clifton House is a beautifully presented Victorian town house on a quiet residential street within easy walking distance of the centre of town and with glimpses of the sea from the upstairs bedrooms
