Property details

Tucked away in a quiet loke, just off Blakeney High Street, Hollyhock Cottage is a super little brick and flint cottage that is a perfect coastal retreat for a small family, couple or friends to enjoy at any time of year.

Packed full of character and charm, with wooden floors and beamed ceilings throughout, this mid terrace cottage is very welcoming, cosy and comfortably furnished and suitable for a maximum of three adults. Downstairs there is a good-sized sitting room, with a large log burner to keep you warm in cooler months. The log burner also heats the radiators, but there are electric radiators available if you don't wish to light the stove. An open plan, well-equipped newly fitted kitchen with dining area is just off the sitting room, and the ground floor bathroom is accessed from the entrance hall. The stairs to the first floor are quite steep (but they are wide, straight and have a handrail) and lead into the galleried double bedroom. A doorway from this bedroom leads through to the single bedroom next door, with an adult size single bed with a slightly smaller trundle bed underneath (the trundle is only suitable for children and available to book at an extra cost of £65/week - please select when booking). One well-behaved dog is welcome.

Blakeney is an all year round holiday destination, popular with walkers, bird watchers and sailors. Families with young children can enjoy a spot of crabbing from the quay, take a boat trip out to Blakeney Point to see the seals, and explore the coastal path, marshes and nature reserves close by. If you want to leave the car behind for the day, just take the Coasthopper bus which regularly passes through the village - it will take you to all the coastal villages from Hunstanton to Cromer.

Surrounding local area

Blakeney is one of the jewels of the North Norfolk coast and a mecca for sailors, birders, artists and walkers. The picturesque harbour is always bustling with children (and adults!) gillying for crabs.Take a walk along the sea defence wall over the saltmarsh and you will be rewarded with simply stunning views. The village is a maze of winding streets and tiny fishermen's cottages, and there are some great places to eat and enjoy the local sea food. Although not directly accessible from Blakeney village; Blakeney Point is the focal point for the Blakeney National Nature Reserve, an impressive four mile long stretch of coastline encompassing a fantastic spectrum of wildlife, including seals and varying landscapes, a sand and shingle spit, salt marshes, sand dunes and a range of plant life. Take a walk through the National Trust's Friary Hills, to the east of the village, and take a picnic, or wander through the woods and go to The Wiveton Cafe - a great place to go for breakfast, lunch or an evening meal under the stars - make sure you book first though as it is always popular. Try the Wiveton Bell for supper and of course there are some wonderful restaurants and pubs in Blakeney itself! Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall are a short drive away, as is Holt the pretty market town just a few miles inland where you can enjoy shopping at the numerous independent shops.

Lovely winter break - Lovely stay in a lovely cottage. The cottage worked really well for our winter stay with our 1yr old daughter with a great location to walk from or a short drive to other great spots.
