Property details

Summerdown is a stylish and romantic self-catering cottage just for two, set down a little loke in Blakeney. With its peaceful setting and outside fire pit (perfect for toasting marshmallows), this luxury coastal self-catering retreat offers cuddly couples a blissful escape for two and comes with a super cinema room too.

Lovebirds and nature lovers are sure to fall for this pretty place … beautifully styled and decorated throughout with a king size master bedroom with beautiful soft furnishings and linens, an en suite with double walk-in monsoon shower plus spacious open plan living area with kitchen and seating/dining area. With a vaulted ceiling in the main living area and large double-height, floor-to-ceiling windows with doors to the front terrace and a mezzanine floor above with its TV/cinema room, it’s the perfect place to have time to yourselves and escape from the outside world.

Quietly located in Blakeney village, up a little loke, this peaceful haven is far enough from the hustle and bustle of the harbour, but close enough to stroll down to the sea in the morning, breathe in the sea air and pick up breakfast along the way.

The wildlife spotting opportunities abound in and around Blakeney, which is set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Keep your eyes peeled for waders, barn owls, marsh harriers, bearded tits, hares and deer. The quay is a great place to learn to catch the local crabs and try your hand at ‘gillying’ and the place to launch sailing and pleasure craft. Head to Friary Hills for a short walk or catch a boat to Blakeney Point, where you can see the seals in their natural
habitat on a stretch of coastline that has a huge variety of wildlife, plant life, salt marsh and sand dunes.

The location of this cottage allows you easy access to enjoy and appreciate Norfolk’s vast open landscape and big skies.

With parking directly outside the cottage, make sure you leave the car behind for a day, pull on your walking boots, step outside and walk the coastal path. With so many fabulous eateries and local produce in abundance along this part of the coastline you can enjoy refuelling and rewarding yourself along the way too. Head back to the cottage, light the woodburner and then recall the day's events while you warm your toes.

Summerdown holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Blakeney is one of the jewels of the North Norfolk coast and a mecca for sailors, birders, artists and walkers. The picturesque harbour is always bustling with children (and adults!) gillying for crabs. Take a walk along the sea defence wall over the saltmarsh and you will be rewarded with simply stunning views. The village is a maze of winding cobbled streets and tiny flint-faced fishermen's cottages and there are some great places to eat and enjoy the local sea food too. Although not directly accessible from Blakeney village; Blakeney Point is the focal point for the Blakeney National Nature Reserve, an impressive four mile long stretch of coastline encompassing a fantastic spectrum of wildlife, including seals and varying landscapes, a sand and shingle spit, salt marshes, sand dunes and a range of plant life. Take a walk through the National Trust's Friary Hills, to the east of the village, and take a picnic, or wander through the woods and go to The Wiveton Cafe - a great place to go for breakfast, lunch or an evening meal under the stars - make sure you book first though as it is always popular. Try the Wiveton Bell for supper and of course there are some wonderful restaurants and pubs in Blakeney itself! Head to Morston Hall owned by celebrity Chef, Galton Blackiston for a very special meal to remember. If history is your thing, then head to Blickling Hall and Felbrigg Hall which are both a short drive away, as is Holt the pretty market town, a few miles inland where you can enjoy shopping at all the independent shops. Don’t forget to treat yourself at Byford’s one of the best places to have coffee and cake.

Welcome hamper included

A complimentary hamper will be awaiting you on your arrival containing milk, tea, fresh coffee, bread, butter, eggs, juice, wine and cheese, along with other essential items to prepare a light snack or breakfast. There may be some regional variations.
