Property details

Moles Cottage is a very pretty flint mid terrace cottage in a quiet residential street location, just a few minutes' walk away from the heart of the beautiful Georgian market town of Holt.

The cottage has been sympathetically updated by the owners, and is decorated and furnished in a relaxing, contemporary seaside style, while latch doors, wooden floors, some challenging stairs and paint boarded walls all help to retain the cottage feel. Moles Cottage is well-equipped, centrally heated and has a gas flame effect stove, as well as a pretty, enclosed suntrap courtyard garden, making it perfect for holidays at any time of year.

The cottage is great for couples (it's an ideal spot for a romantic break for two), a small family or friends wanting to enjoy everything that Holt has to offer, with the convenience of restaurants, cafes, and a wealth of independent shops all being within walking distance. If you want to venture further afield, the coastal villages and beaches of the stunning North Norfolk coast are only a short drive away.

Dining Area
Cream painted boarded walls, a large glass skylight and French doors to the courtyard garden help to make this a very light and airy dining space. There is a wooden table and four chairs with rush seats.

A good sized cottage kitchen with cream wooden units, beamed ceiling and tiled floor. Integrated appliances include a slimline dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave (there is a washing machine housed in the utility cupboard in the dining area). There is a butler's sink, cooker with gas hob and electric oven, and extractor fan.

Sitting Room
A window that overlooks Mill Street, comfortable seating including a two seater sofa and two armchairs, a fireside rug, cushions, lamps and gas flame effect stove, all create a lovely, cosy ambience.

With washbasin and WC.

Steep Cottage Stairs with handrail lead to the first floor. The stairs are wide, uneven in places, have a narrow tread and might not be suitable for small children and those with mobility issues.

First Floor

Bedroom 1
Double bed with iron bedstead, bedside shelves with lamps, double wardrobe and dressing table.

Bedroom 2
Single bed. Hanging space.

Jack and Jill Bathroom
Latch doors from each bedroom lead into the central bathroom, with a double shower cubicle, vanity unit with inset basin and large mirror over, heated towel rail.

Courtyard Garden
A pretty, enclosed, courtyard garden, mostly laid to shingle, with a small paved area with table and two chairs. The adjoining cottage has an access right of way through the garden albeit the gates can be secured making the garden fully enclosed.

There is no designated parking, but roadside parking is available opposite and close by at quieter times of day. There is also a pay and display car park in short walking distance.

Surrounding local area

Holt is one of the most attractive small towns in Norfolk in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The town existed before the Norman invasion but was destroyed by fire in 1708. It had to be rebuilt and we're very lucky that the timing meant that the Georgian style was used. The main street is lined with colour-washed Georgian buildings, many of architectural importance. There are tea and coffee shops, lots of antique and curio shops, food shops and delicatessens, banks, independent shops and, of course, historic Gresham's School founded in 1555. The North Norfolk coast at Blakeney is six miles away.

Guest reviews

Another fantastic stay at Moles Cottage - after staying at Moles Cottage for the past five years during the summer we decided on late, very late winter break. From the moment we arrived and entered a warm cottage we knew it was going to be a good stay. The tasteful Christmas decorations and the treats left for us were most welcome. As usual the cottage was immaculate and being the Winter we were able to park outside every night, a bonus given the dire weather we had during our stay. However Holt and the coastal towns were magical this time of the year and we reluctantly returned home after our week, refreshed and ready for Christmas. Now to book for Summer!

Lovely stay in Holt - I stayed with my daughter & small dog for 3 nights in November. The cottage was very warm & cosy despite the cold weather. It has been refurbished to a high standard & had everything we could wish for. We did have to use the car park but I expected to pay for parking so it wasn't an issue. Holt itself is lovely with plenty of individual shops & cafes. Thoroughly enjoyed our break & would highly recommend.

Our fourth stay at Moles Cottage. As always a very relaxing week. The cottage is always clean and well equipped. The welcome pack gets better every year! (Loved the "Fizz"). Location is great for walking into the town and for visiting those take aways when we are too tired/lazy to go to the "Feathers"...The fantastic coast is but a short drive away and we always find something new. We have always had our greyhound "Peter" with us and not only Moles Cottage but Holt and the whole of North Norfolk are the most dog friendly places we have ever been to. Already looking forward to our next visit to the cottage! Paul & Judith Bryan + "Peter".

Our few days at Moles Cottage was just what we needed. Despite the freezing temperatures outside, it was beautifully warm and most welcoming and two minutes walking into Holt gave us good eating and shopping amenities. It was clean and the facilities in the cottage made our stay very comfortable and cosy. The details on the website were comprehensive and it was our fault we did not read them properly and took no bath towels. However, the owner was in mobile contact and extremely understanding and sympathetic and graciously sourced the essential items! Grateful thanks ensued for that offer and the welcome pack. We would recommend this cottage.
