Property details

Sea Watch is a modern detached property situated well off the coast road in Salthouse, and has undergone a full refurbishment. The accommodation is light and spacious with open plan comfortable living downstairs. All the bedrooms have wonderful views, either to the fields and open countryside to the rear or over the marshes towards the sea and church at the front. The house is designed so that two families or multigenerational gatherings can all relax and have space to enjoy themselves. There is a log burner for cooler evenings and a sun trap patio accessed from the sitting room in the summer. Sea Watch is extremely well-equipped and presented throughout, and a wonderful family holiday house right on the coast. Whilst the house has six bedrooms in total, the living accommodation does not lend itself to more than ten guests, so the house is limited to a maximum of ten.

Surrounding local area

Salthouse is a picturesque village located on the North Norfolk Coast just north of the small market town of Holt, and just east of Blakeney and Cley.

Salthouse is a situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and overlooks the salt marshes next to the Norfolk Wildlife Trust Nature Reserve at Cley. Clustered around the village green are pretty cottages, a pub with a large front garden that looks directly over the salt marsh, Cookies Crab Shop offering platters of seafood, salads, sandwiches and ice cream. East of the village, past the village pond, is a cottage where you can buy Fish & Chips during the summer months.

The magnificent church of Salthouse holds regular art exhibitions and concerts throughout the year. A new shop has recently opened called The Old Post Office selling local produce including beef from the cattle grazed on the marsh.

The beach is mainly pebble and shingle, but unlike other parts of the Norfolk coast, the tide does not go out very far. Parking is easy and it is perfect for a picnic.

Guest reviews

Had a very enjoyable weekend at Sea Watch. Lovely house, perfect for six adults and four children. Great location for beaches, crabbing etc. Very good pub/restaurants within easy reach. We would definitely return.

Excellent accommodation in a beautiful part of England The house had all the facilities you could ask for and had parking space for our four cars.

Seawatch proved an ideal base for our 3 generation family holiday. The house itself is lovely - recently refurbished and in good condition throughout. It was very well equipped. Furnishings and excellent artwork on the walls all added to a homely feel. With excellent weather, the sheltered but open back garden with it's patio and upper "sun tan terrace" was a real bonus. Salthouse itself is an ideal spot on the North Norfolk coast. The local beach is easy to get at by car or a pleasant path over the marshes. Whilst a shingle bank at high tide, it provides a good spot at lower water for children's play. Sandy beaches are nearby at Sheringham and further afield. The countryside is ideal for walking, cycling and birdwatching. There are lots of things to do in the immediate area, suitable for all ages. The Mussleburgh Collection, Dinosaur Land and Bewilderwood were all hits with the kids, and we did not have time to go on the train - other than the beach train at Wells, where excellent crabbing was one highlight of the holiday. The village has a good pub which provided an excellent family meal. The Crab Shack is another draw. All in all - Seawatch and the area itself can be recommended highly.

We had an excellent family holiday (15 of us in all, in two properties, Sea Watch and another near by). Sea Watch is spacious and attractive with a very well-equipped kitchen and four bathrooms, including one ensuite. The garden is beautiful, secluded and restful. It's ten minutes' walk from the shingle beach and there is a welcoming pub close by, with much better than average food, as well as the Crab Shack where the manager was happy for us to BYO. All of us felt it was a very successful week and are happy to recommend Sea Watch.
