Property details

Driftwood House is a light and airy contemporary property situated in Brancaster. It really does have the 'wow' factor. The accommodation is ‘upside down’ to take advantage of the views over the salt marshes towards the sea.
The sitting room is comfortable and has the advantage of a contemporary wood burning stove for the cooler months. There is plenty of seating and the kitchen is well-equipped. All the bedrooms are downstairs, and the fourth bedroom can be either used as a bedroom using the sofa bed with proper mattress, or as a sun room with access to the gardens through the french doors.

Brancaster is known for its simply stunning beach. It stretches for miles, backed by gentle sand dunes and the famous links golf course of The Royal West Norfolk Golf Club.

Driftwood House holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Brancaster seals bask on the creek edges and children can safely paddle in the tidal lagoons. The tide goes out a long way revealing the shipwreck of the SS Vina (beware of strong tides and do not venture out!) The sand is perfect for sandcastles and picnics. Kite surfers provide exciting entertainment on windy days.
Parking is a few yards from the beach and anyone who walks that little bit further will be rewarded with their own private stretch of sand!
The Ship public house has recently been reopened under Chris Couborough The Flying Kiwi Chef to great reviews.
Traditional ice-cream and lollies can be had from the booth on the beach! Wildlife along the coast is abundant and accessible, Marsh Harriers wheel overhead along with Avocets, Oyster Catchers and Terns.
A trip would not be complete without tasting the famous mussels, in season when there is an 'R' in the month.

Guest reviews

This is a lovely well maintained house in a fabulous location. From the upside down layout to the lovely private garden which is a sun trap I couldn't fault it! I will be booking this again!!

Two families stayed here together for a week and enjoyed a perfectly comfortable stay. Very clean and well equipped. An extremely well looked after property very much worth the money. All facilities that were available worked as expected, kitchen very well equipped. Upside down house with the living space upstairs, this was all open plan so really good for social gatherings. All beds were comfortable. Nice space in the garden too to enjoy the pleasant weather. Location was really nice too, just off the A149 so a short 15 minute drive to Hunstanton or Wells-next-the-Sea. Couldn't really fault this house at all, the owners clearly take pride in their holiday rental. This is how it can be done, indeed, this is how it should be done.

"Driftwood" a modest dwelling from the outside as spacious inside as Dr Who's tardis! Everything provided to suit your holiday needs. A resort a tourist can ill-afford to miss. Be warned, the inside is not what it seems - the interior has been turned upside around. A modern twist that works so rather well, it's appearance will pleasantly astound. Along narrow twisting roads, with coastal views. Numerous eateries including fish'n'chips putting Brancaster proudly on a Norfolk map where you can enjoy endless memorable trips with so much to do only weather permitting -it's the only downfall but do choose May. Travelling from Oxford the didtance no problem. I can highly recommend where we did stay.

Thank you for letting us stay in your lovely house. We've been renting in Brancaster for 10 years and this house is the best. Another excellent week in Norfolk!

What a fantastic house to spend a very enjoyable long weekend.
We must thank Jess's friends for allowing us the pleasure of staying here. Weatehr has been jusrt what you expect on the coast, very very windy and wet. But that didn't stop us from walking in the two days we managed to walk 10 miles.

Party of 6. Two wrinklies with daughter son in law and two grandsons 9 and 11 years old. Everyone enjoyed the stay. The accommodation was spacious clean and well equipped. The living room, kitchen diner being upstairs is a great idea with views across the marshes. Would definitely stay again.
