Property details

4 The Maltings is situated within a small development of converted malting buildings that have views over Brancaster Staithe and the saltmarsh beyond.

The accommodation is upside down with the sitting room, kitchen and dining area on the first floor to take full advantage of the views. There is a small balcony with table and chairs from which you can soak up the sun and enjoy the big Norfolk skies. The entire first floor has a vaulted ceiling with exposed roof trusses giving a sense of space and light. A large wood burning stove in the centre of the room is a real focal point.

The bedrooms are all downstairs, along with a family bathroom and en-suite shower room. The third bedroom has a good quality sofa bed, and french doors opening to the rear courtyard, so can be used as either a ‘quiet’ room or to sleep one extra guest. The courtyard is fully enclosed and a real sun trap.

4 The Maltings holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Brancaster Staithe, just a couple of minutes drive from Brancaster, bustles with sailors. Home to Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club, the harbour is a busy place.
Fresh seafood and coffee can be had from the shed on the quay (in high season) or you can go up to The Jolly Sailors where children, muddy dogs and boots are welcomed.
For more formal dining The White Horse provides a spectacular view of the marshes where you can enjoy the local seafood whilst watching the tide come in over the creeks.
The Fish Shed gives you the opportunity to take home some great local produce.
Kayaks and boats can be hired from Northshore Sport and Leisure.
Brancaster Staithe is right on the Norfolk Coast Path. Fresh mussels can be bought on the quay direct from the fishermen, or try Mervyn in the village, he will have a sign out!

Guest reviews

We found 4 The Maltings a lovely place to stay with our small granddaughter. Very convenient for Brancaster beach, places to eat out and shops.

Lovely views over Brancaster Staithe, The White Horse Inn and Jolly Sailors pub close by, Jolly Sailors provide good value for money meals, and if you have just come off the beach, there are no issues with dress code, and also the White Horse provides this as well, but they do have a very nice restaurant also.
The cottage itself does have a enclosed yard if you have a dog, which gets the sun in the afternoon.

Our stay at 4 The Maltings. Had a great week at this property. Great location. Everything was provided that we needed. The village had a good shop and a couple of pubs so we didn't need to travel to far to be entertained!! Will definitely use this property again!!

A great location, comfortable and spacious accommodation. We particularly liked the upstairs patio with its view of the marshes. There is so much to do to suit all tastes.

We found this cottage tucked away in 'The Maltings' Complex. We booked this along with 'The Maltings'. We found the two properties together very convenient. The view and sitting and dining room at the top of the cottage was well planned. A balcony next to them was great for eating breakfast outside. It was so good to have a property with so many resources. The shed had a barbeque and equipment which was useful along with garden chairs etc. The books on the local area were well read. When we catered for the large group ( around 22 people) it was so convenient borrowing cutlery and plates etc. The place had a very 'homely' feel about it. When we arrived the sofa bed was set up which was great for the 'young couple'. One of them used the other room as a 'dressing room'. The older couple especially appreciated the large bedroom with ensuite. This cottage would be well worth booking again in the future.
