The Maltings is a coastal property and offers lovely accommodation with stunning views from the upstairs rooms over the saltmarsh and harbour at Brancaster Staithe.

The open-plan, split-level living area is bright with an enormous floor to ceiling arched window leading out to the patio garden to the rear. The bedrooms are tastefully decorated; there are two with en-suite facilities; plus a 'den’ in the eaves of the attic with a television, two giant bean bags and a large Velux window with the best view in the house - perfect for children, big and small, who aren’t afraid of scaling the ladder to get to it!

The solar electric panels help make The Maltings an eco-friendly and low emissions holiday house.

Located on the galleried mezzanine floor. The kitchen has plenty of cupboard space with fully integrated under counter fridge & separate freezer, washer/dryer, dishwasher, ceramic hob and fan assisted oven with extractor hood. There is a sink with drainer, window to the front of the property, microwave, toaster & kettle, along with a good range of kitchen utensils and cooking equipment. In the dining area there is a lovely wooden table with seating for eight guests. There are railings over to the sitting room below.

With an open fire, LCD television with freeview and DVD player. This room is dominated by the arched ceiling height window with french doors out to the paved courtyard to the rear of the property.

First Floor:

With a king-size bed and Velux window with lovely views out over the harbour.

With an electric shower, WC and small wash basin.
Twin bedroom
With full-size twin beds and another Velux window with beautiful views to the rear of the property over to the harbour and saltmarsh.

With a bath and hand held shower over, separate shower cubicle with electric shower, WC, wash basin and heated towel rail.
Secret attic/den
Approached from fold away attic ladder, the fully carpeted loft space in the eaves has three giant bean bags, a flat screen television and lamp. It also has the best view in the house from the Velux window so it’s a great den for children both big and small (as long as big kids don’t mind the step ladder and the limited ceiling height).

To the rear is a small courtyard garden, completely walled and enclosed with shrubs and Indian paving stones. Garden furniture & barbecue are provided.
There is off road parking to the front of the property for at least 2 cars.

Surrounding local area

Brancaster Staithe, just a couple of minutes drive from Brancaster, bustles with sailors. Home to Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club, the harbour is a busy place.
Fresh seafood and coffee can be had from the shed on the quay (in high season)or you can go up to The Jolly Sailors where children, muddy dogs and boots are welcomed.
For more formal dining The White Horse provides a spectacular view of the marshes where you can enjoy the local seafood whilst watching the tide come in over the creeks.
The Fish Shed gives you the opportunity to take home some great local produce.
Kayaks and boats can be hired from Northshore Sport and Leisure.
Brancaster Staithe is right on the Norfolk Coast Path. Fresh mussels can be bought on the quay direct from the fishermen, or try Mervyn in the village, he will have a sign out!

We love this area and this year the weather made our break even better. No 8 is an ideal venue, close to the wonderful harbour, local pubs and a mile from a fantastic beach. Ideal for a family with a water loving Labrador. The house is just right. Thanks for letting us stay. Ps a t bag or 2 would be nice for when you arrive.

Wonderful stay. 8 The Maltings is ideally situated in the village of Brancaster Staithe a stones throw from the harbour, just set back from the road with car parking and a secure court yard garden which is great if you have a dog with you. You can hop on to the Coastal Path and walk for miles, or just to the pub. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Great House, Great Location. Location is perfect - very close to the Staithe, direct access to the coast path, and of course close to two very decent pubs. The house itself has an interesting design and was very cosy in a chilly week. Everything needed was there. Enclosed garden made it an ideal place to take our two small dogs, too.

A fabulous last week of the summer holidays. Unexpected long delays on the beach in late August sunshine. Swimming with seals on Thornham/Brancaster beach. Biking through Holkham estate. A lovely house, our boys loved the views from the loft.

We had a lovely week away with good weather. The location was convenient. Although it was at the other end of Brancaster Staithes for the shop, it was nice to stroll there either via the harbour and nice scenes or conveniently by road. We hired number 4 The Maltings. Others in the party booked cottages at the other end of the village. This worked well for us. It was convenient having three bathrooms and two ensuite bedrooms. I found that downstairs layout ideal. A large dining table and seating area. This was great when we had large numbers (from 9 to 22). The back yard was great. Big enough for us all to sit out, have a barbeque and eat al fresco, and to hang out washing. It was good to come to a place to find everything in working order. In the past we have been to places where washing machines have been advertised and when arrived they are nowhere to be seen. The dishwasher was convenient for the large numbers we were cooking for and washing machine was useful to keep on top of the washing, especially when the kids had been in the sea. We had been to the area camping 4 years previously but still found plenty to do. The Brancaster area caters well for the different generations of our group. I would recommend booking this cottage and number 4 together for large parties. This worked well for us.

This is an interesting, practical and comfortable house which is part of the old Maltings. Beautiful views of Brancaster Staithe and surroundings can be seen from the back bedrooms. Located in a good position to explore north Norfolk and beyond.
