Property details

This pretty little white-washed terraced three bedroom cottage with distant marsh views, is situated right in the centre of this popular fishing village and is within easy walking distance of two fabulous pubs/restaurants and the famous Fish Shed, where you can buy fresh fish which has literally been landed in the harbour a few hours before!

A good base any time of year, families or couples, you will love its close proximity to the coast path and to the sandy beaches at Brancaster, Titchwell, Holme- and Wells-next-the Sea.

This traditional cottage is located on the coast road and is equipped, styled and furnished for a holiday by the sea. With an open plan sitting/dining room, leading through to a practical modern kitchen and small hallway leading to a family bathroom and stairs to the first floor, this little bolthole is a comfortable seaside retreat. Upstairs you will find three well-appointed bedrooms; one double bedroom with a window to the front providing partial, distant marsh and sea views; a single bedroom and a twin bedroom to the rear. This little coastal bolthole also comes with a south-facing landscaped and fully-enclosed rear garden with garden furniture, where you catch the sun’s rays after a busy day exploring. There is parking for one car to the rear of the property which is accessed via a private cul-de-sac.

In terms of where you to eat, you are well and truly spoilt … as you’re in easy walking distance of the family-friendly Jolly Sailor’s pub/restaurant where you can also enjoy take-away pizza’s, the renowned White Horse gastro pub/restaurant with its stunning views over the marsh from its verandah and dining conservatory and Deepdale Café where you can enjoy a hearty breakfast or lunch throughout the year.

The owner also creates tasty homemade suppers to welcome you on your first night to save you cooking or having to head out again after a long drive, perfect if you are arriving late. All meals come ready-made and prepared so all you have to do is heat up in the oven! Further details will be provided via your arrival guide, so you can pre-order ahead of your stay.

Head out with your dog and walk the coast path which is literally just across the road to the Jolly Sailor’s pub/restaurant or opt to turn left and head up Common Lane where you will just adore the walks through the heathland and common land of Barrow Common. Views from the top are to die for and offer some of the best vista’s and coastal views along this part of the coast.

The Coasthopper bus stops just a few hundred yards away and provides an excellent service along the coast road, so if you love walking and exploring, but don’t enjoy walking back as much; then simply catch the bus home!

Surrounding local area

Brancaster Staithe is just ten minutes drive from Brancaster beach and bustles with sailors and local fisherman, who sail, fish or harvest mussles from the harbour. Home to Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club and the National Trust activity centre, the harbour is a busy place throughout the year. Fresh seafood and coffee can be had from the shed on the hard (in high season) or head to The Jolly Sailor's pub/restaurant where children, muddy dogs and boots are welcome and sample all the local produce there!. If you don't fancy anything local then they create some amazing home-made pizza's in their large pizza oven and they also have a takeaway menu. In the summer months, families migrate to the child- and dog-frendly beer garden where there is plenty to keep the little ones amused. For more formal dining The White Horse provides spectacular views of the marshes from its stunning conversatory and verandah, where you can enjoy the very best local produce and seafood whilst watching the tide come in over the marsh and the sun go down to the west. The Fish Shed gives you the opportunity to buy fresh fish, crab, lobster, shellfish and samphire (when in season) to take home. Being right on the coast path, Brancaster Staithe is a fabulous base to explore the whole of the coast and with shops and a cafe in the village too, you won't feel far away from anything.

what an amazing holiday we have had. Norfolk never lets us down and Samphire cottage was the icin g on the cake. Wonderfully equipped, we wanted for nothing. BBQ's in the beautiful garden were perfect. Thank you for creating a perfect family getaway with the lovely added touches - scones on arrival, the jam was delicious! We will certainly be back!

Great for a family break! The property is in a great location, close to pubs, shops and a cafe. It’s easy to join up with local walks along the coast and a short drive to larger towns and the beach. The property was very well equipped and had lots of information about what could be done in the area. All in all a great bolt hole to explore a beautiful area.

We've had a great time in Norfolk and Samphire Cottage has been a great base to explore from. Thank you for the delicious scones and jam. We can highly recommend Jo's supper that welcomed us on our first evening. A great holiday!

Lovely cottage, sweet garden and the most wonderful location! We had a lovely stay at Samphire Cottage - the location is wonderful for being able to walk onto the coastal path and a stone’s through from our favourite haunt for oysters and sunsets, the White Horse. The cottage had all that we needed for a comfortable stay, and although on the main road in Brancaster, lovely and peaceful and blissfully quiet. I’d highly recommend staying here and we were sad to leave!

Our first visit to Samphire cottage and we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you for the delicious scones and jam - they didn't last long!! We had ordered one of Jo's meals for our arrival and we can really recommend this. Altogether a fabulous holiday. Even the weather was kind to us.

First stay at Samphire Cottage and will definitely be back! Very relaxing and much needed few days away. Great walks and sea air to clear the mind, and a cottage with all the mod cons to make it feel like a home from home. Many thanks for making it such a great break for us.

Another fabulous fortnight in Samphire Cottage, weather was fantastic and Norfolk delivered again. Pensthorpe is a great day out for a cloudy day. The crab are probably bored of being caught and released. Cottage is again just the ticket, cosy, comfortable and fully teenager friendly. Looking forward to our next visit.

Another fantastic stay at Samphire Cottage. Always feel so welcome, more like house guests than holiday visitors. Jo's personal touch is so evident in many things around the house and garden. Some lovely weather and made full use of many of the beaches and walks in the area. Like the walk up to the Common (up the road from the Jolly Sailors). Best meal (of many great meals) at Jolly Sailors. Also enjoyed the Golden Fleece in Wells again. I don't doubt we'll be back again for our fourth visit!

We spent a fabulous long weekend at Samphire Cottage, a perfect base to explore this part of the coast. We couldn't have wanted for anything else in the cottage or the location. Everything we needed was right here. We will be back! And what a welcome surprise - homemade scones and jam! What a delicious treat. Thank you Jo
