Surrounding local area

North Creake is a very attractive village, three miles south of North Norfolk’s loveliest village, Burnham Market. Here you will find a traditional village pub, the Jolly Farmers and the old forge which is now run as a living museum of Blacksmith’s art.
North Creake is well-positioned for exploring the whole North Norfolk coast where you will find endless sandy beaches, walking opportunities and an abundance of wildlife.
The River Burn runs through the village, flowing into Burnham Overy Town and Burnham Overy Staithe and on the edge of the village you will find the fabulous Creake Abbey, a 12th century Augustine Abbey that was once a lower powerhouse, holding much wealth and influence. Now under the stewardship of English Heritage, a visit to present day Creake Abbey is very different experience and it now comprises of an excellent farmer’s market which takes place on the first day of each month, a popular cafe and delicatessen and numerous other shops and boutiques.
Wonderful walks through the open countryside can start from the Creake abbey grounds, across the farmland, byways and bridleways, so don’t forget your walking boots or bikes, as the lanes stretching beyond North Creake are quiet and peaceful pretty much most of the year.
Burnham Market comprises of a central green surrounded by 18th century Georgian houses. Head to the Hoste, probably the most famous pub in North Norfolk or dine at Socius restaurant, No.Twenty9 or 20 North Street to sample what is probably the best cuisine this side of the coast. With bookshops, a popular deli, Humble Pie, fishmonger, butcher and numerous galleries, boutiques and homeware and antique shops, you will never tire of browsing Burnham Market. Horatio Nelson's birthplace is at nearby Burnham Thorpe which is in walking distance of North Creake.
Head to Brancaster beach to walk barefoot in the sand or beautiful Holkham, where the sand is even more divine.
Swim in the sea at Wells-next-the-Sea or crab from the quay, sail or take a boat trip/romantic cruise from Brancaster Staithe or Burnham Overy Staithe, or for a bit of culture, head to Felbrigg Hall, Blickling or Houghton Hall or HM The Queen's residence at Sandringham ... or simply choose to do nothing and indulge yourselves at Field View Cottage.
