Property details

The Old Stables is a charming converted stable building situated on the edge the popular village of South Creake. It is full of rustic charm with original stone walls and Pamment tiles. South Creake is just a few minutes drive south of Burnham Market and ten minutes from the coast at Brancaster, Holkham and Wells, so well positioned to explore all of the North Norfolk coast and surrounding countryside.

A much loved second home, The Old Stables has a good-sized sitting/dining room with french doors out to the rear patio and garden. It benefits from a downstairs bedroom and shower room, and upstairs there is a great snug on the landing with a TV and sofa – a perfect space for younger guests to relax and watch TV or read - with two further bedrooms and a family bathroom. The property is dog friendly and the garden is a real feature – a large lawn with open rural views to the rear - and fully fenced and secure (when the gate on the drive is closed).

Surrounding local area

South Creake is a lovely village just a couple of miles from Burnham Market. There is a lovely village green in the centre with a playpark for children and tennis courts. Sir John Betjeman loved the church here. The village is home to The Yorke Trust, founded in 1985 to promote the arts and particularly music among young people. A more recent developement, The North Norfolk Music Festival, presents concerts by international musicians in the church.

Guest reviews

Another lovely fortnight here. It's turning into our second home! Already booked 2018! Indifferent weather failed to spoil things. Still managed to get out and about - it never rains long in Norfolk. Sadly we went to Creake Plant Centre again and wondering how to fit 13 plants in the car...
So back to Lancashire to prepare for hibernation!

This is our second year at The Stables and we have had another wonderful holiday. The cottage is perfect for us and our three children with lots of space and a large safe garden. We had fun at Holkham Hall, Brancaster beach, Titchwell marsh, Dinosaur adventure and crabbing at Blakeney. Fish and Chips at Erics! The new BBQ was great too, thank you! See you next year!

A lovely stay - cosy and comfortable -our 18th year in Norfolk and this was not the best of weather - but still the place to come, we did all the usual things. Farmers' Market at Creake Abbey, the auction at Burnham Market - The Hoste Arms, Burnham Overy Staithe every afternoon for ice-creams and dog walking. Holkham beach as lovely as ever. Ate out at The Lifeboat Inn and The Blakeney Hotel can recommend both.

The Old Stables is a great place to stay. Clean with all amenities. It's ideal for Dogs (& humans !!). It's within easy reach of Burnham Market (5 mins) & the coast at Brancaster (10 mins). Creake Abbey, which is close by is worth a trip both for the ruined Abbey & the Farm shop and cafe. All in all a great place to stay.

“We have stayed at this delightful holiday cottage twice, first in June 2016 and we liked it so much we booked again for September. The Old Stables is perfect for us and our girls, we decided to book it again for June and September 2017. Set in peaceful countryside, the Old Stables is the best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in.”
