Property details

Woodpecker is a beautiful Scandinavian A-frame lodge located in the wonderful, tranquil woodland setting of Weybourne Forest, set high on the hill above the popular coastal village of Weybourne, and within a short drive of Sheringham, Cromer and the lovely Georgian market town of Holt.

The lodge has four bedrooms, two of which are downstairs, and two bathrooms. The stunning full-height open-plan light and airy living area is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy the peaceful location and soak up the woodland view outside. Super insulated and double glazed, you will be kept lovely and cosy in the winter months; in the summer, slide open the large glass door from the living area, sit on the spacious decked balcony and see if you can identify the birdsong.

There is a second decked balcony to the first floor, offering great views from on high.

This is a brilliant place to stay if you like to keep fit; there are some pretty woodland trails to explore from right outside the door, the National Trust's Sheringham Park and Kelling Heath are close by, and the North Norfolk coastal path is a short drive (or longish walk) away. Guests can also enjoy complimentary membership of the nearby Woodlands Leisure Club, easily reached by car, or via the woodland footpath (about a mile), where there is a heated 25m x 10m adult pool, a children's pool, sauna, steam room, spa bath, gym and fitness suite, as well as beauty spa.

Woodpecker Lodge is dog friendly and will appeal to families, friends, walkers, cyclists, nature lovers and birdwatchers all year round.

Surrounding local area

Weybourne, a pretty coastal village set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is made up of flint cottages and straddles the main coastal road that runs through. The village is surrounded by well-ordered arable fields, woodland and heathland, and has a shingle beach which connects to the North Norfolk coastal path and a stunning three mile cliff-top walk to the sandy beach at Sheringham. The village has a well-stocked shop, a great pub serving food and a well-preserved traditional country railway station from where you can catch the Poppy Line steam train on its way between Holt and Sheringham. Weybourne is also home to the famous Muckleburgh Military Collection which is well worth a visit. The Coasthopper bus service runs regularly through the village throughout the year and will take you to all the coastal villages between Kings Lynn and Cromer. This is an excellent area for walking, sea-fishing on Weybourne beach, playing golf at nearby Sheringham and Cromer, and enjoying the beautiful coastline and surrounding countryside.
