Property details

Hunsett Mill is a completely unique and extraordinary property, and quite unlike anything else we have to offer.

Approached from a private road and set in an area of outstanding natural beauty, with a tranquil bend in the River Ant to the front (a tributary of The Broads), and surrounded by stunning water meadows, it beautifully marries brilliant contemporary design with traditional Norfolk architecture. Inside it is both exciting and comfortable, and designed to let as much of the outside 'in' as possible, with huge windows and galleried landings giving a feeling of space and light. Comfortable furnishings and well thought out living areas make the house both welcoming and practical.

The renovation and extension of this mill keeper's cottage was shortlisted for the "Structural Awards 2009" as one of the projects with the most innovative structure in the category "Residential Structures " by the Institution of Structural Engineers. Hunsett Mill's sustainability was shortlisted for the "Making Sustainable Development Happen" award in 2009, as one of the five most sustainable projects with a budget under £2m by the UK Green Building Council and Building Magazine. Most impressive of all, in 2010 Hunsett Mill won the RIBA Manser Medal for Best New House.

Hunsett Mill holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Ok, we admit it, Stalham is not within our original remit of 'only the North Norfolk Heritage Coast' but the opportunity came up to represent a truly unique and beautiful property and we just couldn't let it pass. It is also in a particularly beautiful part of Norfolk. Just 10 minutes from the lovely beach at Sea Palling and only 15 minutes from Wroxham, the property itself sits on a beautiful bend of the River Ant, a tributary of The Broads and is surrounded by water meadow with it's own restored windmill and boat house.
Add to this a building of remarkable architectural significance and you have a self-catering experience that will be difficult to beat. We think we can be forgiven for going a little 'off piste' with this one!
