Property details

Located in a quiet side street in Snettisham, this delightful traditional brick and carrstone Victorian end terrace cottage is a perfect holiday bolt hole for families, couples and friends at any time of the year. Recently upgraded and refurbished, Southvale has full central heating and is both spacious and comfortable. There are two bedrooms (king size and twin) and two bathrooms (one is downstairs), a cosy sitting room with log burner to snuggle up to when the nights draw in, a separate dining room and a well-equipped kitchen.

In keeping with a cottage of this age, the stairs are steep, but they are straight and have a handrail. Little ones are well catered for, with travel cot and high chair, and two stairgates provided. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. There is also an enclosed garden, safe for both to enjoy.

The pleasant village of Snettisham offers something for everyone, whatever your age and whatever the weather! There is easy access to some wonderful beaches, fantastic birdwatching at Snettisham RSPB, lovely walks and cycling on the Peddars Way, and Sandringham House is just around the corner.

Please note: On the 19th October 2018 the open fire will be replaced by a log burner.

Surrounding local area

Snettisham is a coastal village to the south of Hunstanton, also home to the RSPB reserve on the coast of The Wash. Many migratory birds descend there during the winter months and the skeins of geese honking and clattering is one of the iconic Norfolk sights. Snettisham has a great pub, The Rose and Crown. It serves good food and has an enclosed garden with a children's adventure play area. The village is well served with amenities including chemist, a local shop, hairdressers and second hand book shop, perfect for browsing away a couple of hours! There is a Bistro style restaurant, The Old Bank Cafe, on the market square; take your own wine at no extra charge. For the children, Park Farm is a lovely place to explore, with hands on experiences including a Deer safari on a tractor to see the herd of Red Deer roaming about. You are perfectly placed for the coast, Snettisham has its own beach just 2 miles from the centre of the village, Hunstanton is a 5 minute drive and Brancaster a 15 minute drive. Sandringham Estate, the Norfolk home to The Queen is just 10 minutes away.

Guest reviews

We have been very comfortable here, everything that we would need is here. Lovely Christmas decorations. We have been able to spend time with a relative in Kings Lynn, and have had some great walks too. Lovely evening spent in The Rose and Crown. Many thanks.

We have enjoyed our first family holiday with Alex. The cottage has been fantastic with the well-equipped kitchen and garden sun trap. We loved our visits to Wells next the Sea and Hunstanton in particular (a bit easier with a baby) and dinner at the Rose and Crown in the village. We've tasted lots of ice creams and recommend the Parlour on the Prom in Hunstanton the most. Chester enjoyed his walk in teh common - nice and shady in this heat wave. Many thanks for the superb accommodation.

Sandringham Estate, oh and Thornham, very sweet place and great pub, The Lighthouse Inn. Ate at the local Rose & Crown - very nice. Fab holiday, weather amazing too. We will be back.

Thank you for a wonderful stay. Glorious weather to enjoy long walks on deserted beaches and a lovely cottage to return to at the end of the day. Fantastic welcome and food at The Old Bank Cafe and Rose & Crown. Hopefully the Queen Victoria will be open next time we visit. Sad to have cut our stay short but look forward to exploring more in the near future.
