Orchard Cottage holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Ringstead is an unspoilt village just a few miles in from the North Norfolk Coast. Whether you want an active, adventure-packed holiday, or just want some peace and quiet, this is the perfect place to be.
The village boasts the renowned Gin Trap Inn, a traditional 17th century Coaching Inn with good food, a great selection of beers, wines and welcoming staff. It also stocks more than 100 gins for you to try! In the winter it is cosy with roaring log fires and in the summer there is lovely decked garden to the rear to enjoy the sun's rays.
The village general store is certainly unique. Not only does it stock everything from newspapers and local produce to logs and cleaning products, it has a labyrinth of rooms for you to explore, where you will find an eclectic collection of old and new items for sale. There is also an excellent garden centre in the village too.
The Peddars Way passes through the village on its way to join the Coastal Path, so there is good walking to be had here and on the Ringstead Downs along with some amazing views.
The village is on the National Cycle Network and is part of the Norfolk Coast Cycleway.
The sandy beach, pubs, restaurants and Links Golf Course at Old Hunstanton are just two miles away.
Children will love the acquarium at Hunstanton and there are watersports in this season town too. Head to trend Burnham Market for a spot of shopping or Holkham Hall for a bit of culture.
HM The Queen's Sandringham Residence is a short driveaway too, as are the RSPB nature reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham.

Back again for another great Christmas/New Year Break! Weather was more kind to us this year. Flat light helped with mixed bird feather photography. Very cosy cottage and fouond the tranquility just perfect. Local village shop very handy and location to coastal spots are perfect. Titchewell much more rewarding than last year. Top quality beach bird photos this time too! Loved The Gin Trap and usual local haunts. Could well be back again in the future - maybe Autumn for different experience and bird migrations and longer days in dramatic light.

Had a fabulous stay here! Walking, cycling, running, eating and drinking! Definitely recommend The Gin Trap Inn and the village shop stocks everything. Spent some time in Holkham, Wells and Burnham Overy Staithe and walks on the beach. And such a dog friendly place. Skye had a ball! Thanks so much for sharing Orchard Cottage. Hope to be back...

Lovely peaceful stay and stylish well located cottage. We stay at a lot of cottages and Orchard was very good. Very quiet despite being on a little local road. Enclosed front and back gardens very good for safeguarding our dog. Very stylish decor. Great pub The Gin Trap walking distance along with a local grocery shop. We did the 7 mike circular walk around Ringstead which you can do from the front door. Very quick to get to lovely sandy beach at Hunstanton. All round a lovely cottage, very clean and can’t fault. Would recommend and may well return.

A really sweet cottage with a nice garden. The Gin Trap pub a short walk away. Kitchen newly fitted. Big TV and log burner. Two miles easy walk to Thornham in the coast. The cottage sits on the 7 mile Ringstead Circular Walk which is peaceful and unexpectedly beautiful. As with many old properties the stairs are steep and uneven so perhaps not ideal for the frail or elderly. Best food at The Orange Tree Pub in Thornham.

Certainly one of the best cottages we have stay in (and there have been quite a few). A great location for north Norfolk, good walking for dogs and the local Inn the Gin Trap could not have been more dog friendly. The cottage was more than just comfortable, excellent decor with all the equipment you will need (many thanks to the owners. The garden is dog secure although meeting your neighbours at the earliest op is useful as they have access across the back of your property. Good walking for you and your dog near by. For the best alfresco seafood salad I would recommend Cookies at Salthouse, just round the coast from Cley if you are round that way.

Perfect cottage in a fabulous location. Cottage of a very high standard, well designed with lots of homely touches and quirky accessories. The village of Ringstead is quiet with a fabulous pub (the Gin Trap Inn) and close to lots of lovely beaches, villages and pubs - all of which are dog friendly. First trip to Norfolk was most enjoyable and will no doubt return to Orchard Cottage in the near future.

Cosy cottage - our stay at Orchard cottage was very comfortable. The furnishings were of a very high standard, the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was very well equipped, again with high standard items. There was a plentiful supply of logs for the fire. The location was good, pub and shop in the village and not far to the coast.

Delightfully refurbished cottage - to a very high spec - in a great near-coastal Norfolk village. Ringstead is a lovely North Norfolk village, and this cottage is well situated for the local very good gastropub/gin palace (!) and extensive, quirky and well-stocked local shop.
The furnishings are to a very high spec - but not off-putting, so that you fear to tread for fearing of damaging things! It is very comfortable and well stocked with kitchen equipment and goods, as well as high quality TV/wi-fi/radio/DVD player etc.
The beds are very comfortable, the bathroom a delight. The property's very thick walls are great sound barriers and heat retainers. The cottage is very dog friendly and is within very short distances of fantastic beaches for dogs at Old Hunstanton and Holkham.
All in all, a lovely short stay in a delightful, well furnished and greatly positioned, renovated farm cottage on the North Norfolk coast.

First visit to Orchard Cottage - loved everything about it - great interior design! We had all weathers, but the cottage kept us cosy and warm. Our two favourite eateries - The Lifeboat at Thornham and Eric's for good old Fish and Chips - FAB! We hope to return to this cottage again soon.

A perfect pre-Christmas break - we were booked this cottage as a gift and it has been the perfect present for us and our dogs. Lots of great country walks , beaches and pubs to explore. We spent most of our days relaxing watching movies and being cosy by the fire - pure bliss! We felt completely at home and didn't want to leave! The cottage has everything that you need - we will recommend to family and will be back!

Home from home - An amazing cottage in a great location. Pretty village close to the amazing beaches of Brancaster, Holkham and Wells. The cottage has everything you could ask for. Comfortable beds, a well stocked kitchen, wood burning stove (which came in very handy when returning from a snowy windy beach trip). I couldn't recommend this place any more and hope to come back next year. Even saw seals at Wells Beach.

A Little Gem!

We stayed at Orchard Cottage for 3 days and wished it was for longer! The cottage is beautiful! The décor and furnishings are incredible. The attention to detail is second to none. You feel at home as soon as you walk through the front door, and the cottage is so cosy when the log burning fire is on. The local pub, The Gin Trap Inn is a 10 minute walk away and serves great food and yummy gin. I did try and book Orchard Cottage for my birthday weekend next year, however at that time of year it is a minimum of 7 nights stay as it is half term which is understandable. You will be hard pushed to find somewhere else with the high level of décor and furnishings............I have looked and cannot find anything better as yet! :0)

We had a fabulous stay in Orchard Cottage this summer. It was a home from home. We've been visiting Norfolk for the last 6 or 7 years and for the last five with our two young boys. This was one of the best cottages we've stayed in yet both for the quality of the cottage and for the location. Our big bugbear on holiday is rubbish knives and small thin towels neither of which were an issue here. It was equipped with everything we needed and had a really good shower, a full size bath and thick new towels. The owners have clearly thought about their guests comfort. I would highly recommend a visit.

We enjoyed our two week stay at the Orchard cottage. It has a very cosy and welcoming atmosphere and lots of specially selected items. The cottage has everything to have a pleasant and comfortable stay. We loved taking our breakfast in the light garden room while looking at the numerous birds in the nice garden. One afternoon even a deer passed outside the garden gate. The location is perfect for exploring the beautiful area with its nearby splendid beaches. We made many extensive walks and enjoyed visiting Holkham hall, Sandringham and Houghton hall. We haven't seen it all yet and will certainly be back!!

After searching through hundreds of cottages - we came upon this little gem! My husband and I needed a well deserved break - quality time together to get away fom it all with our 2 little dogs. This cottage went above and beyond our expectations. Such a lovely cosy place to relax in. The garden is fantastic and secure for the dogs to enjoy. Attention to detail within the cottage was second to none. The bed was so comfortable, the location lovely and peaceful. The Gin Trap pub just a short walk away was also a fantastic experience, food amazing and staff so friendly. On our last day, we actually didn't want to leave and will definitely be returning very soon.

had a lovely holiday with my Mum at Orchard Cottage. the cottage was immaculately clean and spotless as was the bed linen and the very comfy beds. it was decorated to a very high standard. The garden was lovely. very close to tour the beautiful North Norfolk Coast. The Gin Trap pub in the village highly recommend. The only negative would be if staying with small children the stairs are steep and open, not very child friendly. A wonderful cottage to relax and unwind in.
