Settle down in front of the fire on a winter’s evening and talk over the day’s events or plan a day of exploring over the breakfast table in the morning with a large pot of coffee. With Thetford Forest in close proximity and the Peddar’s Way, don’t forget to bring your walking boots or bicycles, to make the most of the countryside and quiet country lanes that surround this pretty village.

The village pub, The Chequer's Inn, offers good home-cooked food and ales, so if you don’t want to cook, you don’t need to!

With two double bedrooms upstairs served by a family bathroom, this country cottage is perfect for a family or couples who are searching for relaxation in a peaceful and quiet environement. Children will love the 'play cupboard' tucked away in bedroom 2.

The picturesque village of Thompson is located in the heart or rural Breckland between Watton three miles away and Thetford which is around 13 miles away. Boasting a village church, a public house and restaurant, The Chequers Inn, a post office, village hall and a Millennium Green it is rural but has plenty of amenities if you should need them.

If you’re a keen walker, there are miles of tracks to discover along the Peddar’s way, plus there’s the Pingu Trail.

In the car you are in easy reach of Norwich and Swaffham and the market towns of Attleborough and Hingham are just over five miles away.

If you’re a keen mountain biker then you are well located to explore the 47,000 acres of Norfolk’s finest forests.

For a day out, then head to the Dad’s Army Museum in Thetford or if adventure is your thing then pay a visit to Go Ape and enjoy the ziip wire's.

For those looking for some history, then Grimes Graves is an English Heritage site with 433 Neolithic flint mines, one of which has been excavated and is now open to the public.

The North Norfolk coast is about 45 minutes’ drive away.
