Property details

Located in King Edward VIII Wood a mile from the nearest road, this romantic shepherd’s hut is both tranquil and away-from-it all, yet comes with a host of luxuries too. An all-year round holiday retreat in the most beautiful and unique location.

If you’re seeking somewhere unique to stay with a touch of luxury and solitude, then Whoa Stop! offers both in abundance. This beautiful shepherd’s hut, located deep in Thetford Forest, offers plenty of privacy and inside and outside bathing and cooking facilities. Where else can you bathe outside under the stars, in a heated double ended bath we ask?!

Located just outside the village of Thompson, deep in Thetford Forest it sits on the outskirts of the forest canopy of beech and elm, in the company of two other similarly appointed huts, yet offers plenty of privacy. With inside and outside bathing and cooking, this unique retreat is a must if you want to get back to nature yet crave your home comforts too!

Each Shepherds Hut comes with a luxury double ended bath which sits outside on the large veranda, so you can lay back, relax and enjoy the stars with your favourite bubbles whilst watching the wildlife around you. Step out of the bath, pull up a comfy chair and dry off in front of the gas fire pit, before cooking breakfast or supper in the well-appointed outside kitchen. Finish off the evening with a Twilight Hamper full of tempting delights such as marshmallows, popcorn, chocolate sauce and hot chocolate, which can be ordered from the owners on arrival, although you get a starter welcome pack on arrival and toiletries.

Inside this gorgeous hut, you’ll also find a fabulous log burner and a very comfortable king size bed, with cushions and soft throws all decorated in hues of French Grey and purple. And with a built-in boom box and a 20 inch TV to enjoy (if maybe the weather isn’t so good) you will feel relaxed and cosy whatever time of year you choose to stay.

Watch the sun rise over the arable fields from your verandah where you might spot the red deer out grazing in the early morning. With the adjacent land owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust there is plenty more opportunity of seeing bird and wildlife too so don’t forget to bring your binoculars.

If you like a walk in the morning, then the sunrise is beautiful over Thompson's Lake which is about a mile from your hut and is located just off the Peddar’s Way. Set in 32 acres it literally brims with wildlife. You can walk your dog around here too providing they are kept on a lead.

If you want to bring your horse on holiday, then the owners offer a horse package which is £25 per horse per night, this includes access to a 20m x 40m all weather surface arena, 12ft x 12ft stable, turn-out pen, bale of shavings, running water, electric lights and fence. They also offer optional escorted hacks, although the latter are at additional cost.

If you can bear to tear yourself away from your luxury hut, then there is a good pub in the village of Thompson which is in walking distance, where you can enjoy local ales and good food.

Undoubtedly you will fall in love with this place … so if you are looking for something different, give it a try.
