Property details

This boutique self-catering retreat really has the ‘wow’ factor and provides the perfect escape for a family or group of friends wanting a stylish retreat not far from the coast and in easy walking distance of a great pub/restaurant.

Having originally been used as the village post office (hence the name Correos House - Spanish for Post Office) – it is now a restored ‘Georgian villa’ close to the green, in the sought-after village of East Rudham.

Each of the rooms has been meticulously furnished with superb attention to detail. Guests will enjoy a fabulously-equipped kitchen, an open-plan sociable sitting room with cosy wood burning stove, a formal dining room and sumptuous bedrooms, each with a television/DVD player. The beds have 2000 pocket sprung mattresses and 800 thread count linens. Original and limited-edition artworks adorn the walls. On the top floor there is a self-contained master suite consisting of a bedroom, shower room and dressing area. Three of the bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms and there is also a family bathroom on the first floor. The garden is enclosed and dog friendly so bring your dog with you.

This is a really luxurious home-from-home, which is only a short drive to the fabulous stately home of Houghton Hall and gardens which host many fine exhibitions and of course the famous Horse Trials. The village pub at East Rudham, The Crown, serves fabulous food, and there is a handy village shop, butchers and tea room, all within 100 yards of the house.

Surrounding local area

East Rudham is a pretty Norfolk village just 20 minutes’ drive from the North Norfolk coast. It is well served with an excellent pub/restaurant, The Crown. There is also a lovely gift shop and tea room serving yummy cakes, an excellent butcher and small village shop.
The market town of Fakenham is a short drive away with its busy market and auction on Thursdays.
Sculthorpe nature reserve with excellent birdwatching is five minutes away and you'll find other NWT and RSPB reserves on the coast just a short drive away.
Pensthorpe is also well worth a visit too, which was the base for BBC's Springwatch a few years ago.

Nature lovers will fall in love with rural North West Norfolk with its meadows rich in poppies, fields of lavender and many quintessentially English villages.
For history buffs the region is also home many fine stately homes which are open to the public including Houghton Hall and Sandringham, the countryside residence of HM The Queen.
There is walking from the cottage and of course the quiet lanes lend themselves to cycling.

A 20-minute drive will take you to Brancaster and the North Norfolk coast with its beautiful beaches, and the popular Georgian village of Burnham Market - a superb shopping destination.

Guest reviews

Attractive, well equipped, luxurious holiday house. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this extremely well equipped and attractively decorated holiday house. Quality linens added to the luxurious feel of the house. Would highly recommend a holiday in Correos House.

Correos House is beautifully furnished, well equipped and provisioned. It is in a great location where we could easily access several of the beaches and villages in the area. We found it a super place for us to relax and enjoy a family weekend.

Fantastic in every way. Four couples for a birthday weekend....perfect! The quality of everything was certainly has the wow factor. The owners had thought of everything, from high tech TVs, etc, to barbecue, all the equipment needed for the beach, etc etc..the list goes on. It is beautifully decorated and furnished to a very high standard. The location is perfect.. lovely village, pub, shop etc and short drive to the coast. A particular mention is of the parking...we got all our four cars on the property! We all had such a lovely time, that we intend to book there again next year, rather than trying anywhere else! The booking people Norfolk Hideaways were efficient.Fan

Correos House January 2018 - A beautiful house in a lovely village location. We had a lovely girly weekend as we always do in January.
The house was very homely, it had lovely decor and was overall very comfortable. We had a lovely weekend and would help highly recommend Norfolk hideaways and Correos House.

This lovely old house has been very well designed to offer a great open space for the kitchen and living room (separate dining room) which allows a family to gather, cook, watch TV together. Having four generous double bedrooms, three en suite was also good for three couples and a baby. The garden is lovely and enclosed. The house is rather more inland than we had planned but is only 25 -30 minutes from Holt, Holkham, Wells and other beach areas so not a problem. Convenient also to have a good pub, also family friendly, and village shop just across the road. Would be good in the winter too, with two wood-burning stoves.
