Property details

A beautiful romantic bolthole for two, ideally situated in this pretty coastal village, in a peaceful off-road location. Detached, with a pretty garden and overlooking the marshes and the NWT Redmarsh Nature Reserve, it is perfect for lovebirds and birdwatcher’s alike, who want to be in beautifully quiet location close to the beach. Full of character, this is a wonderful getaway whatever time of the year. Sensitively restored, it won a Mayor's Special Award in 2005. The owners maintain and care for the cottage themselves, so it is well-loved and beautifully kept which is testament to its Visit England 4 star gold award.

Reputed to be the oldest property located on the historic Peddar's Way, Hope Cottage is a very pretty brick and flint and weather-boarded Norfolk 'single-dweller' cottage dating back to 1680. It is undoubtedly one of the most perfect hideaway cottages for those looking to escape from the outside world, yet is in easy walking distance of the beach and the village pub. From the cottage there is direct access to the Peddar’s Way and North Norfolk Coastal Path. The Norfolk Wildlife Trust Holme Dunes and the sandy beach are both right on your doorstep too. So if you love getting back to nature and enjoy watching bird and wildlife, you will adore this place. The wildlife opportunities are all around. Keep your eyes peeled for dragonflies, barn owls, kestrels, marsh harriers, grazine pink-footed geese and snow buntings in the winter. The south-west facing garden provides views across the marshes towards the sea and features a small pond with an old-fashioned traditional outside loo 'The Retreat', although of course you do have one inside too! Enjoy romantic afternoons in the garden which surround the cottage or daydream your day away curled up in the garden room with the bi-fold doors which open to the garden.

Bring your bikes and you explore the quiet local lanes, or head over to the famous Links Golf Course at Old Hunstanton where you have wonderful views of the coast as you play.
