Property details

Unwind in style at this superb retreat which has enclosed gardens and views to the sea. Stylish yet relaxed, it's a perfect choice for families and friends who want to enjoy a slice of laid-back Norfolk living. Head to the beach, take a dip, feel the sand between your toes and breathe in the salty sea with the children and dogs, before heading back to the village with its renowned pubs/restaurants and deli/cafe.

Set back from the road with gated access, this property is a relaxed and charming conversion of a Victorian flint and brick coach house. This beautiful property has been stylishly renovated to provide a retreat for up to 11 guests wishing to enjoy a relaxing stay by the sea. Fabulously located in the centre of this popular village with its excellent pubs and restaurants and the harbour and sandy beach in walking distance too, you couldn't pick a better spot for a short break or longer holiday.

The Coach House is well-proportioned and spacious and offers five bedrooms; two on the ground floor and three on the first floor, both of which are served by their own large family bathrooms, plus there is a wet room on the ground floor too. The layout is ideal for two families wanting to holiday together as the sleeping arrangements offer a degree of privacy and separation, plus there is a playroom (meaning little ones can entertain themselves adjacent to the sitting room!). And with so much garden to run around in too, they will be tired little ones by the time bed time comes!

With painted floorboards, a beautiful kitchen with Aga (plus a conventional oven and hob) and a lovely light, bright dining area with doors opening onto the large side garden and outside terrance, this is a wonderful house whatever time of year you plan to holiday. And if the weather isn’t being so kind, then there is an open fire and Smart televisions and a DVD player to snuggle down in front of too.
However, with so much to do and see and do in Thornham, you may not feel the inclination to leave this lovely house or village. But if you can drag yourself away, then just a few miles down the road is Brancaster’s famous beach with its and sand dunes and championship golf course and there are sailing facilities at Brancaster Saithe. Plus you have HM The Queens' Sandringham residence and the RSPB bird reserve at Titchwell reserve in close proximity, the latter of which you can walk to.

Well-equipped and practical, the Coach House offers a great base to explore the whole coast, So if you’re looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy time away with family or a group of friends and want to experience a slice of laid-back North Norfolk Living at its best, then treat yourself to a stay ... you won't be disappointed.

There is parking for up to five cars in the large driveway, so great if you are a group of friends travelling separately.

There is a boot room for storing walking boats, wellies and coats and a utility room which has a washing machine/tumble dryer.

Please note:
Dogs are welcome (maximum of two) which are charged at £50 per dog per stay.
Highchairs travel cots and a stairgate are available to hire on request at a charge of £10 per item per stay.

The owners of this property also own a beach hut on Old Hunstanton beach, please enquire with the team for prices and availability.

Coach House (T) holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

The Coach House is undeniably a famous property in one of the best villages along the coast.
Thornham is a picturesque yet vibrant, old smuggling village right on the North Norfolk Coast. Wide expanses of salt marsh separate the village from the sea and it is a paradise for walkers and bird watchers. There are several great places to eat including Thornham Deli, selling all manner of local produce, cakes, specialities and great coffee (plus big breakfasts and luscious lunches too!), The Lifeboat Inn, an old smuggling haunt complete with heavy beams and roaring fires, which is great for relaxed dining; The Orange Tree, a great gastro pub; or the The Chequers Inn where you can enjoy a variety of dishes (although pizza and pasta are their speciality).
At Drove Orchard's on the edge of the village you will find the village farm shop and pick-your-own-fruit farm. Recently this has evolved into so much more and boasts a fresh fish shop (Gurney's), Eric's fish and chips and Schucks restaurant which is housed in a yurt!
You will adore the diversity of this little coastal village that packs so much in. The beach, reached by a walk past the harbour and over the sea defence and the salt marshes, is simply stunning and you will be rewarded by peace and quiet whatever time of year you are visiting.
Outside of the village you will find other spectacular beaches; Old Hunstanton; Holme-next-the-Sea; Titchwell or Brancaster and a few miles further down the road, don't miss probably the best beach in the UK at Holkham, where you can also explore the hall and its vast parkland.
At Wells-next-the-Sea children and adults alike will adore catching the little train to the beach or crabbing off the quay. A visit to see the seals at nearby Morston or Blakeney is a must as is a visit to HM The Queen's Sandringham Estate, or the RSPB reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham. Or walk along from Thornham beach to to Holme marshes owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust to see an abundance of wildlife.

Welcome hamper included

A complimentary hamper will be awaiting you on your arrival containing milk, tea, fresh coffee, bread, butter, eggs, juice, wine and cheese, along with other essential items to prepare a light snack or breakfast. There may be some regional variations.
