Guest reviews

Mariners Cottage is perfect for families of all generations. It was very clean, well equipped and extremely comfortable to stay in.

Our 4th stay at Mariners. It meets our needs perfectly. Very comfortable, very clean. Arrival touches - tea & cake perfect. We were pleased also that the cottage had been refreshed - new boiler, garden enhancements and external paint for example. It is a credit to the owners - long may you let it!

It was dark when we arrived but the house was very welcoming with lights on, although at first sight I wondered how we were going to manage in a small bungalow but I soon found that beyond the front door lay a large comfy homely space ideal for my family and parents.
Everywhere was clean and what a lovely touch the home made bread and lemon cake. The cottage was well stocked and had all the essentials and more.
It was a great location for exploring the North Norfolk coast and we will definitely be back. Thank you.

“Our second visit didn't disappoint. This house is in a perfect location, with amazing garden, lovely size for extended family (and dog) and is the best equipped holiday cottage have ever stayed in.....fabulous everything is provided from hand soap and toiletries to fully functioning kitchen accessories, books, games and dvd's to wood for the fire.....which we didn't need as weather was so great! Location is great to walk from house, pub near by as well as fields, beach and wonderful restaurants. Sad our week went so quickly ”

“A really nice cottage with all the facilities that we could wish for. Having the key available without having to find Norfolk Hideaways office was brilliant. My son guided me onto the road as the exit was a bit tight but fine. We did use the Coast hopper a lot, so the stop was convenient. We wish to thank the owners and yourselves for making our holiday stress free. ”

“Really lovely and well equipped accommodation ideal for young families as has lovely big gated garden. The owners had thought of every essential item and we could not have wanted more. The accommodation was larger enough for our multi-generation family without us being on top of each other. Very close to the White Horse Pub and Peddars Way for those who like walking plus a short distance by car to Hunstanton.”

“A week away from work, touring different towns and basically relaxing! As a couple we had never visited Norfolk before, although I had visited this actual cottage twice before when it was privately owned a few years ago. The cottage now is in an EXCELLENT condition, a real improvement on how it was.....and it was stunning then! On arrival it was a real treat to find a fresh loaf and a fresh lemon drizzle cake waiting for us! What a LOVEY touch and really appreciated. Not only that, we were astonished to find plentiful stock of almost ALL other household items such as foodstuff, cleaning liquids, toilet rolls and all bathroom soaps and shampoos/conditioners.....plus many more things! We settled in within minutes and felt really at home. It was SO quiet, peaceful and comfortable. The TV (Freeview) and WiFi were excellent and we really used them a lot. The log fire was a real treat although we only used it a couple of times. The beds were extremely comfortable and we slept like logs every night! Bathrooms were immaculately clean and really nice to use. The kitchen is SUPERB, a delight to be in. The garden was LOVELY and we sat out on the patio often. One question.....WAS it a young deer we saw at the bottom of the garden??? We would love to know!!!!! It was lovely waking up to the birds feeding off the feeders each morning. The location of the cottage is nice. It is a little awkward driving out on to the main road, especially turning right but we always had one of us walk over to the other side to guide the driver out - and it was rarely busy anyway so we never struggled. There are many villages and resorts within easy driving distance. We liked Sheringham and Wells, though Wells was quite busy as it was Bank Holiday Monday. The local town, Hunstanton was nice. A real homely, friendly seaside town. All the pubs are really nice too. A little expensive but we always had quality food/drink and service, so in effect was good value for money! The local White Horse is just a 5minute walk away down the road at the side of the cottage and was great, we really liked it and used it a lot. The Gin Trap at Ringstead (just a 5minute drive away) was really good too (especially if you are a Gin lover!). We went to the horse racing at Fakenham which was a GREAT day out. Only about a 25 minute or so drive away. If we had just one negative...and it's only a minor one, it would be that there is no blind or curtain in the kitchen window. It is extremely dark out the back and when you go to the kitchen late in the evening, turn the light on and go to the sink, it is quite eerie facing the window and seeing your reflection and just blackness beyond. You half expect to see another face outside looking in the window and as I say, it can be quite eerie. We are used to a blind at home and it was hard to get used to. As I said it was a minor thing and in no way detracted from the wonderful week we had. We'd like to thank the owners and Norfolk Hideaways for providing such a wonderful cottage. We will definitely return and would recommend this accommodation to anyone that asked or needed a review. ”
