Property details

Church Cottage is a traditional detached cottage offering spacious accommodation for four people. It commands fantastic views over the fields to the saltmarsh from all the windows to the front of the cottage and is just a minute's walk away from the coastal path. The cottage has a lovely homely feel with a great open plan kitchen and dining room with sofa and gas stove, and a separate living room with log burner. Upstairs there is a master bedroom with en suite shower room, and two single bedrooms with shower room.

Church Cottage has fantastic access to the amazing bird watching and nature reserves nearby, the golf courses at Brancaster and Hunstanton and, of course, all the lovely local beaches. Thornham is a very popular village with several pubs, a village shop and delicatessen. Drove Orchards is just along the road where there is a farm shop and some lovely retail outlets.

Church Cottage has been awarded a 4 Star Gold by Visit Britain.

Surrounding local area

Thornham is an old smuggling village right on the North Norfolk Coast. Wide expanses of salt marsh separate the village from the sea and it is a paradise for walkers and bird watchers. There are several great places to eat including The Village Deli, selling all manner of local produce and great coffee, The Lifeboat Inn, an old smuggling haunt complete with heavy beams and roaring fires, The Orange Tree a gastro pub and The Coach House selling pizza and pasta. The beach, reached by a walk over the sea defence over the salt marshes, is stunning and you will be rewarded by peace and quiet!

Guest reviews

We had a brilliant week based at Church cottage. We hardly used the car as we walked to the mashes, beach, local deli and pubs. The cottage was very comfortable and has lovely views over the marshes - we saw lots of different types of birds.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Church Cottage. Everything we needed was supplied and the house felt very welcoming and cosy. the views from the window were beautiful and there was lots of wildlife to see. The local pubs and eating places at Drove Orchard were all within walking distance and provided tasty food and good ale. Hope to return in the future.

Church cottage is excellent in so many ways - cosy and comfortable, well presented and equipped but its location right in the centre of Thornham (our favourite Norfolk Village) with views across the marshes, walks from the door and lovely places to eat and drink is just perfect.

A comfortable, spacious, warm well equipped cottage. Excellent location overlooking the marsh in a quiet position. Superb choice of eating establishments within walking distance (take a torch it's dark walking back!). Great walks and birdwatching straight from the door. Highly recommend.

We stayed in February and even though the weather was as you would expect at this time of year, the cottage was warm and comfy, the pubs nearby welcoming with good food and the walks (of which there are many) were a great way to work up an appetite to enjoy the meals. We have stayed in this cottage too many times to mention and never once been disappointed.
It is a treasure.
