Property details

A really fabulous luxury holiday property in this much sought after coastal village. This spacious detached chalet bungalow has been totally refurbished from top to bottom, inside and out, and extended outwards on the ground floor to create the most superb open plan living space with bi-folding doors leading out onto a south facing patio and landscaped garden.

Tucked away on a quiet cul-de-sac away from the busy coast road, The Cove has been completely transformed by the current owners. As soon as you enter the front door, you will know you have made the right choice for your holiday. The house has a very elegant but easy and understated style, and is extremely well-equipped. Karndean flooring, quartz worktops, handmade tiles, quality beds with pocket sprung mattresses all set the tone. Walking into the fantastic open plan sociable living space that encompasses the kitchen, dining area and garden room, you will beam with delight and really appreciate that no expense has been spared and every little detail thought of, to ensure that you have the most comfortable and relaxing of holidays. There is also a separate sitting room which is a lovely place to get cosy in cooler months; just light the log burner and turn on the TV. In fact, there is a TV in all the main rooms and bedrooms, you are quite spoilt for choice! The three bedrooms (super king, king size and twin) all have their own bathrooms, two of which are en suite. The master bedroom is on the ground floor, making The Cove ideal for couples and friends and older families. Outside there is plenty of space for everyone to enjoy. The attractive landscaped garden area at the back of The Cove is very private, and catches the sun for most of the day. One well-behaved dog is welcome to stay at The Cove.

It's an easy five to ten minute walk into the village, where you have your pick of some great places to eat and drink, whether it's just a coffee and snack or something more substantial. Stretch your legs a bit more and walk to the beautiful wild beach to take in the lovely sea air and stunning views along this beautiful coastline. It is well worth the extra effort.

The Cove (Thornham) holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Thornham is a picturesque yet vibrant old smuggling village right on the North Norfolk Coast. Wide expanses of salt marsh separate the village from the sea and it is a paradise for walkers and bird watchers. There are several great places to eat including Thornham Deli, which sells all manner of local produce, cakes, specialities and great coffee (and breakfast and lunch too!), The Lifeboat Inn, an old smuggling haunt complete with heavy beams and roaring fires is great for relaxed dining whilst The Orange Tree is a super gastro pub. Head to The Chequers and enjoy a variety of dishes (although pizza and pasta are their speciality). At Drove Orchard's on the edge of the village, which started as a farm shop and pick-your-own-fruit farm, has now evolved into so much more - there's Gurney's fresh fish bar, Eric's fish and chips (such a cool place) and Schucks restaurant which is housed in a yurt. The beach, reached by a walk past the harbour and over the sea defence and the salt marshes, is stunning and you will be rewarded by peace and quiet whatever time of year you are visiting. Outside of the village you will find other spectacular beaches; Old Hunstanton; Holme-next-the-Sea; Titchwell or Brancaster and, of course, Holkham where you can also explore the hall and its vast parkland. At Wells-next-the-Sea you will adore crabbing on the Quay or visit the seals at nearby Morston or Blakeney. HM The Queen's Sandringham Estate is close by as is the RSPB reserves at Titchwell and Snettisham, or head to the Holme marshes owned by the Norfolk Wildlife Trust. So much to do!

The Cove has obviously been recently updated to a high standard. The beds were so comfortable and decor throughout was excellent. The kitchen is amazing and has everything you need. The garden room is brilliant. Thornham village is lovely and there are great places to eat within walking distance. Brancaster beach 2 miles away was perfect for walking the dog every morning. Highly recommended place to stay
