Property details

A single storey holiday home in the centre of the pretty village of Thornham within very easy walking distane of three fabulous pub/restaurants and the ever-popular Thornham Deli. Once used as a music studio, this dog-friendly single-room property with courtyard garden and off-road parking up a private gravel drive, would make an ideal base for those who want to be close to all the amenities, restaurants, the harbour, beach and nature reserves.

In a previous life, this pretty flint property was used as a music studio for the teaching of various musical instruments and still houses a fully-functional church pipe organ and piano! When the new owners inherited the house, the organ was simply too difficult to take out, so it is still there - and working - so if you have ever hankered after playing a bit of Phantom of the Opera, now is your chance to enjoy the acoustics! The studio is comfortable and pratical with a modern kitchen and wet room. The double bed is positioned to one end of the large vaulted and beamed room with a screen for privacy.

Dog-friendly, the property also has an outside courtyard, although the area is not fully enclosed, but it is peaceful and secluded and would make an ideal base for those who love birdwatching and walking as you are close to the coastal path too. The CoastHopper bus stops in the village, which provides access to all the villages and tourist attractions along the coast.

Surrounding local area

Thornham is a great base for a holiday and is an old smuggling village right on the North Norfolk Coast. Wide expanses of salt marsh separate the village from the sea and it is a paradise for walkers and bird watchers. There are several great places to eat including Thornham Deli, selling all manner of local produce and great coffee, breakfasts and lunches; The Lifeboat Inn, an old smuggling haunt complete with heavy beams and roaring fires good food and ales; The Orange Tree which is a lovely gastro pub which also boasts a dog menu!; and The Chequers Inn, which about a 2 minute walk away down the private driveway and serves fabulous food and pizzas. The beach, reached by a walk over the sea defences and over the salt marshes, is quite stunning and you will be rewarded by total peace and quiet! On the edge of the village you will find Drove Orchards, where you will love dining at Eric's Fish and Chips or Shuck's which serves rustic Norfolk food in a yurt no less! Otherwise buy and enjoy fresh fish at Gurney's fish bar or shop for clothese or home decor at Nelle clothing and Joyful Living. You'll also love the wonderful Drove Orchard's farm shop and pick-your-own fruit farm.

The NWT Holme Reserve and RSPB bird reserve at Titchwell are both within walking distance or a very short drive by car, so if wildlife is your thing, you won't be disappointed!

Brancaster beach is just a short drive away as are Holme-next-the-Sea and Old Hunstanton beaches. The CoastHopper bus stops in the village too, making it easy to get anywhere along the coast if you don't want to drive yourrself.

Burnham Market, Holkham and HM The Queen's Sandringham residence is only a short drive away too.

Guest reviews

An Excellent Get-away! Easy to find, welcomed and showed around by the owner. Immediately felt at home in a comfortable, open space room which we found clean and tidy. Piano and organ a bonus! Ideal for peace and quiet.

Good location, quirky accommodation! My husband and I spent a lovely week in this quirky hideaway cottage and enjoyed every minute! Well located for access to the coast , comfortable accommodation and some lovely pubs and walking nearby....all you need for a holiday. But the sun shone too and that made it extra special.

The Music Room is just as described and being located in Thornham, is ideally located for a holiday exploring the North Norfolk coast. The studio area is large, double height, and very unique - piano or organ players will feel right at home!
The kitchen is well equipped and of a decent size. The accommodation is ideal for those with well behaved dogs having tiled or laminate floors and a large wet room. The hosts live in the house close by and are very helpful and happy to answer any questions about the facilities or local walks. We (Cassie the dog and me) had a wonderful week here and would very much consider booking again

This was our fourth stay in the Music Room and obviously we enjoy it, otherwise we wouldn't return. The kitchen is well equipped, the bathroom is a good size and the lounge / bedroom spacious. Great for our dog, who settles in straight away and there are lots of places roundabout to visit. The kitchen table is also a good place to do the crafts that I bring with me.

My Husband and I stayed at Foxglove Cottage for a week with our Labrador puppy meg. It was just perfect - well laid out, well decorated and well equipped. Just outside the back door there's a decked veranda perfect for keeping the dog (and any children) close by if required although they are very welcome to enjoy the freedom of the field with the horses and chickens etc. The location is fantastic, a lovely quiet spot in the country with good local walks and yet just about 20 minutes to any of the beaches on that part of the Norfolk coast. Not to forget to mention that Ed was a super host - friendly and helpful... Thank You. We couldn't fault Foxglove Cottage and would highly recommend it.

“The Music Room is an old Music Hall, tastefully converted into a holiday let, which will comfortably house 2 people, but could have as many as 4. The furnishings and décor are quirky, perhaps not to everyone's taste, but everything you need is there. Thornham itself is a wonderful village, with three excellent pubs. We would definitely stay there again.”

“We have just returned from a short break in the Music Room. We found the accommodation well appointed with everything we required, clean and comfortable. The main room was light and airy, the wet room was spacious. On arrival we were given a friendly greeting by the owner and shown round the accommodation. It was a quit stay in a peaceful setting There are a number of places to eat nearby and Wells or Hunstanton not far away. There are also lots of easy walks nearby and a frequent Coast-hopper bus service. An excellent break and we will go back.”
