Property details

Two Hoots, named after the owls often seen in the area, is a much loved family holiday home.

Built in the traditional Norfolk style, featuring timbers from one of the last ships to sail from King’s Lynn, and reclaimed Sandringham stable floor tiles.

The cottage is very spacious and presents as a very cosy retreat, complete with a large inglenook fireplace and log burner.

The gardens are private and the conservatory is a wonderful place to sit and watch the local bird life. To the front of the house you have the wonderful view of the saltmarshes, and direct access onto the coastal path. Please note, there is an ornamental pond in the garden.

Two Hoots holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Thornham is an old smuggling village right on the North Norfolk Coast. Wide expanses of salt marsh separate the village from the sea and it is a paradise for walkers and bird watchers. There are several great places to eat including The Village Deli, selling all manner of local produce and great coffee, The Lifeboat Inn, an old smuggling haunt complete with heavy beams and roaring fires, The Orange Tree a gastro pub and The Coach House selling pizza and pasta. The beach, reached by a walk over the sea defence over the salt marshes, is stunning and you will be rewarded by peace and quiet!

Guest reviews

We had a wonderful week in this lovely house, perfectly situated in the lovely village of Thornham, ideal for the beach, walks and the pubs and such a secluded and quiet part of the village. We have stayed in several houses in Thornham over the years and this is the best situated, we were very disappointed that we would not be able to book again, but understand why the owners would want to move back to this lovely house. Would always use Norfolk Hideaways for holiday cottages, always excellent standards.

We had a lovely break in this fantastic house. Ideally located for coastal walks, discovering north Norfolk and visiting lovely country pubs and restaurants. The house and garden are great for entertaining and relaxing. The three pubs in Thornham are all different but offer great food and drink. We loved meeting the 6 water buffalo in the field across the road. Our 2 dogs loved the large enclosed garden, and the walk down the coastal path to the lovely beach. We visited many of the surrounding villages and thoroughly enjoyed all of them. Great stay in a lovely house in a fantastic location.

Our stay at Two Hoots, the second time we have been there. This would be my forever home - I loved it and the location was perfect. Thank you to Norfolk Hideaways for being so prompt in replying to our query when we couldn’t find the saucepans - sorry we thought it was a locked cupboard!

Wonderful week in Norfolk. Had a lovely week in this lovely house. It was perfectly situated for walking along the coastal path with our dog, and for great pubs and food. We came on a snowy week in March, and spent a lot of time walking, then returning to a cosy log fire. The house was perfect for 6 adults and a dog.

Two Hoots cottage - The cottage was in a great position, very well equipped and homely. Some great walks and fabulous beach. We saw deer, seals and lots of birds...the red legged partridge were lovely. Fantastic food at the Orange Tree and not bad at the Lifeboat. Jumped on and off the coastal hopper bus to all places down the coast. Highly recommend Thornham.

Favourite Cottage - this is our favourite cottage in one of our favourite locations. We have now stayed here a number of times and I know why there is little availability over the next months. Our most important family member ( the dog) found it perfect. The enclosed good size garden prevents any escapes and the house is lovely and homely, we used the wood burner as it was quite cold during our week. The walks are the best, a lovely coastline all the way from Hunstanton to Wells. Thank you so much to the owners.

The cottage was comfortable and well situated being opposite a coastal footpath. For the more energetic you can walk to Old Hunstanton, where the Coasthopper bus would transport you back to Thornham and the comfort of Two Hoots. If you don't feel like cooking, there are a number of good pub/restaurants, some will even cater for your canine companion. The bird /wildlife activity in the garden is captivating, providing you remember to fill the feeders - RSPB Titchwell is just down the road where seed is available. Whilst dining in the conservatory a Hedgehog visited for a drink from the pool, he even came sniffing at the door, but I didn't have any suitable food! I don't want to say too many nice things, as I am hoping to book again, if there is any availability.

My wife, our dog Islay and I had a very enjoyable stay with my son coming for a weekend with his wife and our Granddaughter. We entertained friends that were booked in at Gunthorpe during the week and had a laugh throughout our stay. Its a cottage full of happy memories, character, cosy comfort and ideal position for our walks, beached and eating out. we rent cottages over the country and this is top of our list and booked for next year whilst there.

We have had many holidays in and around Thornham for a number of years and always liked the look of Two Hoots. We were not disappointed when we stayed there for a week. We found it a typical quintessential holiday cottage with every need catered for, from the welcoming cake to the cosy and warm rooms. It is one of the best location cottages we have stayed in for walks, pubs, and quietness. With having a dog, the garden security is excellent and the coastal walk perfect location. Also it is nice to have your own pet pheasant to feed. We look foreword to a return stay.

Enjoyed our stay - owls still in residence, wood burner was great, and village pubs did good food and chatty locals.

We spent Christmas 2016 in Two Hoots and it was lovely, We arrived to see a massive cracker filled with chocolates on the dining table along with Christmas cards. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms a very good size. There's not a great deal of cupboard space in the kitchen but enter the garage and there's plenty of room to store food and drink along with a good size fridge/freezer. It was lovely sitting in the conservatory and watching the birds or the dogs running around in the safe enclosed garden! We will return, sooner rather than later!

We chose Two Hoots for it's location and Home from Home appearance - we were not disappointed. We found it to be very cosy, well equipped and very atmospheric.......as we have self catered for many years we have a good idea of what works and what does not - Two Hoots worked very well for us and we intend to return.

Arrived on Wednesday evening to prepare for my son's wedding at Thornham Church (he is a resident in the village). We have had an amazing time made more special by our smashing accommodation at Two Hoots. The house is well equipped, comfortable and spacious with a beautiful garden. The delicious cake that was here for us when we arrived went down a treat, thank you! We are all returning home relaxed and talking about a return visit later in the year. Thank You!!
