Property details

Two Hoots, named after the owls often seen in the area, is a much loved family holiday home.

Built in the traditional Norfolk style, featuring timbers from one of the last ships to sail from King’s Lynn, and reclaimed Sandringham stable floor tiles.

The cottage is very spacious and presents as a very cosy retreat, complete with a large inglenook fireplace and log burner.

The gardens are private and the conservatory is a wonderful place to sit and watch the local bird life. To the front of the house you have the wonderful view of the saltmarshes, and direct access onto the coastal path. Please note, there is an ornamental pond in the garden.

Surrounding local area

Thornham is an old smuggling village right on the North Norfolk Coast. Wide expanses of salt marsh separate the village from the sea and it is a paradise for walkers and bird watchers. There are several great places to eat including The Village Deli, selling all manner of local produce and great coffee, The Lifeboat Inn, an old smuggling haunt complete with heavy beams and roaring fires, The Orange Tree a gastro pub and The Coach House selling pizza and pasta. The beach, reached by a walk over the sea defence over the salt marshes, is stunning and you will be rewarded by peace and quiet!

Guest reviews

The cottage was comfortable and well situated being opposite a coastal footpath. For the more energetic you can walk to Old Hunstanton, where the Coasthopper bus would transport you back to Thornham and the comfort of Two Hoots. If you don't feel like cooking, there are a number of good pub/restaurants, some will even cater for your canine companion. The bird /wildlife activity in the garden is captivating, providing you remember to fill the feeders - RSPB Titchwell is just down the road where seed is available. Whilst dining in the conservatory a Hedgehog visited for a drink from the pool, he even came sniffing at the door, but I didn't have any suitable food! I don't want to say too many nice things, as I am hoping to book again, if there is any availability.

My wife, our dog Islay and I had a very enjoyable stay with my son coming for a weekend with his wife and our Granddaughter. We entertained friends that were booked in at Gunthorpe during the week and had a laugh throughout our stay. Its a cottage full of happy memories, character, cosy comfort and ideal position for our walks, beached and eating out. we rent cottages over the country and this is top of our list and booked for next year whilst there.

We have had many holidays in and around Thornham for a number of years and always liked the look of Two Hoots. We were not disappointed when we stayed there for a week. We found it a typical quintessential holiday cottage with every need catered for, from the welcoming cake to the cosy and warm rooms. It is one of the best location cottages we have stayed in for walks, pubs, and quietness. With having a dog, the garden security is excellent and the coastal walk perfect location. Also it is nice to have your own pet pheasant to feed. We look foreword to a return stay.

Enjoyed our stay - owls still in residence, wood burner was great, and village pubs did good food and chatty locals.

We spent Christmas 2016 in Two Hoots and it was lovely, We arrived to see a massive cracker filled with chocolates on the dining table along with Christmas cards. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms a very good size. There's not a great deal of cupboard space in the kitchen but enter the garage and there's plenty of room to store food and drink along with a good size fridge/freezer. It was lovely sitting in the conservatory and watching the birds or the dogs running around in the safe enclosed garden! We will return, sooner rather than later!

We chose Two Hoots for it's location and Home from Home appearance - we were not disappointed. We found it to be very cosy, well equipped and very atmospheric.......as we have self catered for many years we have a good idea of what works and what does not - Two Hoots worked very well for us and we intend to return.

Arrived on Wednesday evening to prepare for my son's wedding at Thornham Church (he is a resident in the village). We have had an amazing time made more special by our smashing accommodation at Two Hoots. The house is well equipped, comfortable and spacious with a beautiful garden. The delicious cake that was here for us when we arrived went down a treat, thank you! We are all returning home relaxed and talking about a return visit later in the year. Thank You!!
