Property details

Have you grown weary of the pared back Scandi-look? Well, this colourful, artistic and rather lush former post office has boho-chic in abundance, reflecting the personality of its well-travelled creative owner, and could well be just the place for you to relax and take a break.

An interesting, characterful period property, The Old Post Office has been extended and refurbished and now provides comfortable, modern living with panache and the odd twist. Late Georgian in the main, the house has well proportioned rooms that are light with good-sized windows. One of the most striking features is an entire flint wall within the dining area that houses a 12th Century Normandy limestone column from the local Priory that was found under the house. The original shop window is still there and is often used to display artworks from a local gallery (this room is not available to guests, though the artworks are available to purchase!).

The heart of the house is the lovely light-filled kitchen with adjoining dining and living area where bi-fold doors run the length of the wall and overlook the enclosed garden. To the side is a cosy sitting room with log burning stove, just made for relaxing and chatting after a busy day out exploring this beautiful part of North Norfolk. Upstairs there are three spacious bedrooms (super king, super king/twin and king-size/twin) and two bathrooms, one of which is en-suite.

Binham is a wonderful historic village with Binham Priory, a 12th Century monastery built by William the Conqueror's nephew, at its centre. Just under two miles away from the coast, it is a calm, peaceful oasis away from all the hustle and bustle, with the advantage of good local amenities. The Old Post Office is a very charming property that couples, friends and families will enjoy around the year, providing a wonderful base whatever the reason for your holiday. Perfect for walking, bird watching, cycling, visiting historical houses, spending time on the beach or just kicking back and taking time out from normal every day life.

The Old Post Office holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Binham is a small, rural village almost entirely within a Conservation Area. Despite its proximity to the north Norfolk coast, this community is still very much home to working farms and permanent local residents as well providing popular holiday accommodation.
The village focuses around the atmospheric Benedictine Priory ruins, stones from which were used in the construction of many local properties in the vicinity, and has a surprising number of amenities including an extremely well-stocked village store, butchers, petrol pump, and active community village hall.
The village pub, The Chequers, serves good food and is popular with both visitors and locals alike.
The Priory hosts a range of summer concerts making the most of its excellent acoustics and ambiance.
Priory Farm provides raw milk, and a dairy shop with cheeses, butter, ice cream and coffee.
Binham sits midway between the charming coastal villages of Wells-next-the-Sea and Blakeney and both are within easy reach.
Wells-next-the-Sea with its bustling Quay, beautiful sandy beach and row of colourful beach huts is the largest of the two. Here you will find a variety of places to eat, a good selection of independent shops, boutiques and galleries as well as a supermarket.
The picturesque village of Blakeney, where narrow streets full of brick and flint fishermens' cottages slope down to the tidal creek and offers sailing and beautiful coastal and marshland walks.
The elegant Georgian town of Holt, just five miles away, is a lovely spot to while away a few hours browsing its mix of art and antique galleries, independent boutique shopping, café culture and more.

Welcome hamper included

A complimentary hamper will be awaiting you on your arrival containing milk, tea, fresh coffee, bread, butter, eggs, juice, wine and cheese, along with other essential items to prepare a light snack or breakfast. There may be some regional variations.
