Arnica Cottage holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Wells-next-the-sea is a charming, traditional seaside town with sandy beaches protected by a pinewood forest. With numerous pubs/restaurants and shops to visit, it makes the perfect destination any time of year. A visit to Wells wouldn't be complete though, without trying your luck at a spot of crabbing on the quayside (great fun for adults and chidlren alike), or simply relaxing and watching the world go by whilst sampling the best in local fish and chip cuisine! Bicycle hire is available on the quayside as is kayaking and paddle-boarding during the summer months. Great local pubs include The Crown Inn, The Globe and The Victoria at Holkham and for a hearty breakfast head to Bang! in Staithe Street. Don't forget to visit the RSPB nature reserve at Titchwell or Cley-next-the-Sea or one of the Norfolk Wildlife Trusts sites to appreciate the abundance of local wildlife. Children will adore visiting Pensthorpe or Bewilderwood and of course the glorious sandy beach whih Wells-next-the-Sea where they will adore building sandcastles on the vast beach. In winter, enjoy long walks along the beach before retreating back to the cottage or a good local pub to warm up!

Guest reviews

Positives: location, decor and cleanliness. Good size for a family of 4. Nice little courtyard with washing line for hanging beach stuff although there seemed to be access to the rear of the next door property through this. Negatives for us - no internet or phone and scetchy mobile reception. The twin bed mattress has a camber to it which, as an adult - makes you feel like you will roll off the sides. Kids seemed ok with it though. Low ceilings between kitchen and down stairs loo meant a few bashed heads. Car park - have to go to the pay and display (it’s not far) which gets very busy so may not be able to park (even when you have bought a weeks pass).

A lovely cottage in a great location. A very short walk to the quay and park. The cottage had everything we needed to make our stay perfect. Very comfortable and useful to have the downstairs bathroom as well as the en suite. A lovely courtyard which is a real sun trap. We will definitely use again.

A super location in Wells next the Sea. The old cottage has been beautifully modernised. The kitchen has everything you need . The en-suite bedroom is lovely. The other bedroom is particularly suitable for two children making it ideal for a family holiday. There is no parking attached to the house but plenty in the roads around about 10 minutes walk or in a local car park.

Thank you for the opportunity to stay at Arnica Cottage. It is well appointed and comfortable. This was our third visit to Wells; if we come again, then we will check to see if it is available. We liked the size of the rooms and the kitchen was spacious and well fitted. Also, the house is very well located for the town.
Although the weather was not so kind to ourselves, clearly the courtyard is a suntrap and especially inviting for an early evening drink - thank you for the potted plants; they added to the colour and pleasure of the area.

"We've had a really lovely week and it was great being so close to the childrens' play area, centre of town and right onto the beach. The house was lovely and warm and the well stocked kitchen was very helpful. The crabbing gear and buckets in the garden were great too, thank you.
Thank you for a great stay.

"We came back for our second visit this year - our 7th stay in total! We considered holidaying in Europe or another region within the UK but then thought, we just love Arnica, it's really comfortable and welcoming with all the facilities we require, why not just relax and enjoy - so we did!

We had a really wonderful stay at Arnica Cottage. The furnishings and fittings were exquisite - obviously a lot of time and thought was put into acquiring some beautiful , yet useful pieces - we loved the effect! Everything was fresh, clean and comfortable and all 'the essentials' were provided for us.

"Arnica is a beautiful, charming cottage in the best location! We parked our car on the car park just behind the cottage and left it there for the week - everything we wanted or needed in Wells was virtually on our doorstep and we took the Coasthopper (which stopped at the bottom of the road) to explore other areas of North Norfolk - this also meant we didn't have to search for parking spaces in other popular locations in busy mid-August.
The cottage contained everything we needed and was decorated and furnished to a very high standard - absolutely lovely. We hope to return!

We really enjoyed our time in Arnica cottage and loved being in Wells. The cottage was very well furnished and decorated with all our needs catered for, and so easy to reach everything in town. We would like to think we may rent Arnica cottage in the future and will recommend it to family and friends. Wishing you well for the future.

"Another wonderful break at Arnica Cottage! With this being our 6th stay in the cottage, you would ordinarily expect to see signs of wear and tear, but it is lovely to arrive and everything still looks and feels fresh and clean. As always, the kitchen "hardware" was well stocked with everything we needed. The addition of towels in the shower rooms this year was very welcome too. We usually have our break in Wells in the springtime, so it was lovely to experience the lovely long mid-summer days and enjoy some lovely weather, we actually got to use the garden furniture for a change in the beautifully tended courtyard which is also a real suntrap.

A superb cottage in an excellent location. It was very well equipped - we have stayed in many cottages throughout the country and Arnica is the best in this regard. Thank you, we would hire again.

We enjoyed our stay in your wonderful, well-appointed cottage. Its cosy feel was much appreciated after days out in the cold wind that blew throughout our stay! We found everything we needed to make our visit hassle-free and the information provided before our stay accurate. We hope to visit Arnica again in the future.

Where do I start? Arnica Cottage was a pleasure to stay in from the moment we arrived to the regrettable day that we left. The standard of decoration was extremely high throughout the property and the contemporary choice of fixtures and fittings within a cottage style dwelling was excellent. Thank you both.

“The cottage was very well equipped, took a while to get used to the steps between the lounge and the kitchen and also between kitchen and lobby where the dishwasher was housed, everywhere was immaculate, beautifully furnished and attention to detail was excellent. The location could not be better everything within a few minutes walk away. Would probably visit again and would recommend it to family and friends.”

“Who needs the south of France when you have Wells in the sunshine We had a wonderful week in Arnica cottage in August. the whole property was immaculate on arrival. The kitchen is fully kitted out with everything you may need for your stay - we took a cafetière thinking maybe the cottage wouldn't have one, to open the cupboards and find two! The garden is beautiful. Come 4.00pm it's a total sun trap to that lovely warm afternoon sun. The bedrooms are more spacious than the photos depict with comfy beds and plenty of towels. The only minor point was the hardness of the pillows. Not a problem for those who prefer a firmer sleep but will take my own next time. The location of the cottage is brilliant for beach, Quay, and shop access and although our parking option changed it was really near to park. All in all a wonderful stay. We would defiantly recommend. ”
