Property details

An absolutely adorable detached cottage for two, just perfect for a romantic getaway.

Tucked away on a quiet, private drive with views of Wells church, Myrtle Cottage has recently been lovingly renovated and simply decorated in a relaxed style and retains oodles of cottage charm. This super seaside hideaway has both central heating and a wood burning stove to keep you as snug as a bug around the year. Two pretty cottage gardens to enjoy and ensure you catch the sun's rays morning and afternoon, along with a covetable, private parking space. Comfortably furnished throughout, there's a modern bathroom (on the ground floor, of course!), and up the stairs (steep and winding, naturally!) on the first floor is a lovely, light and airy double bedroom adjoining a spacious landing. The kitchen is compact but well-equipped and the sitting room, with a small dining area, is a cosy spot to spend the evening 'at home' relaxing after a busy day out and about.

Myrtle Cottage has an enviably peaceful location with easy access to all local amenities, be it shops, restaurants or cafes. A five minute picturesque stroll through the beautiful Buttlands Green to the quaint shopping area that runs down Staithe Street will lead you to the historic quayside at the bottom of the town. From here, a further fifteen minute walk along the sea defence pathway, and you will reach the town's jewel in the crown; the stunning sandy beach that stretches as far as the eye can see.

Surrounding local area

Wells-next-the-Sea is a hub for North Norfolk coastal activities. From the picturesque harbour (where crabbing is a must) you can either walk, take the narrow-gauge railway or drive to the spectacular beach with its famous array of colourful beach huts.
Stop at the Beach Cafe afterwards for a drink and snack - you can also hose down a sandy dog! Wells has a pretty, leafy green peaceful square,The Buttlands, which is surrounded by fine Georgian buildings. There is a bustling high street with all kind of independent shops, some lovely tearooms, great gastro pubs and restaurants.
This beautiful coastline is a top destination for birders and walkers all year round.
Beautiful Holkham Hall is just down the road. You can hire a bike from the quayside and spend a day exploring the coastal paths, or perhaps Holkham Estate.
And, don't forget to reward yourself after a busy, active day with some of the best fish and chips in the area.

Guest reviews

I had a lovely stay at Myrtle cottage and it was so convenient to the town, everything you could wish for at your fingertips! It is situated down a lane so you had the quietness if you wished it but other houses around, I found it delightful.

A lovely little cottage with everything one could need on holiday. Comfortable beds, very comfortable settee, well equipped kitchen and good eating in nearby pubs. Good shop in Burnham Deepdale, within easy walking distance, for the things you forget to bring with you. We followed the recommendation to take the walk back from the shop along the coast footpath the first morning - lovely walk at high and low tide. Lots of good walking in the wider area and the Coastliner bus means that you can leave the car in the car park and explore. We intend to return.

Tastefully decorated, gexcellent location and well equipped. Appreciated the warning of steep stairs and low ceilings beforehand - can imagine this might be an issue for some. Very convenient to have parking and an outdoor space for relaxing too.

Myrtle Cottage is one of the prettiest cottages we have stayed in. Lovely little gardens at the front and back to catch the sun all day. Lovely comfortable bedroom and excellent bathroom. Situated on a private lane so very quiet and just behind the delightful Georgian square - The Buttlands. Wells is very convenient for exploring the North Norfolk Coast and a day trip to the Broads is just 40minutes Drive.
