Property details

Get back to nature in style at this beautiful, peaceful woodland retreat, just one and a half miles inland from the popular coastal village of Weybourne.

Liz's Lodge is a fabulously luxurious Scandinavian A-frame dwelling, set in a small copse within the secluded 'woodland village' of Weybourne Forest. Furnished in an elegant, contemporary style with great attention to detail, and clever use of space, the owner has created a very relaxed and comfortable environment, in keeping with its lovely, tranquil setting.

The lodge has three bedrooms, one of which is downstairs, and two bathrooms. The stunning open-plan and light-filled living space has one totally glazed wall to take full advantage of the woodland scene outside. This is a superb place to socialise, as well as relax and take in the view - slide open the door and you can bring the outside in. On warm days you have a choice of two decked, glazed balconies, where you can enjoy some alfresco dining or just lie back, look at that great big Norfolk sky and listen to the birds!

A little way down the hill is Weybourne Station, where you can take a ride back in time and catch the Poppyline steam train to either Holt or Sheringham. It's about a twenty minute walk down to the main village where there is a well-stocked village store, and a good pub serving food. The Coasthopper bus passes through on a regular basis all year round, and stops at all the coastal villages from Kings Lynn to Cromer.

Liz's Lodge really is the perfect place to stay if you like to keep fit; there are some pretty woodland trails to explore from right outside the door, the National Trust's Sheringham Park and Kelling Heath are close by, and the North Norfolk coastal path is a short drive (or two mile walk) away.
Guests can also enjoy complimentary membership at the nearby Woodlands Leisure Club, easily reached by car, or via the woodland footpath (about a mile), where there is a heated 25m x 10m adult pool, a children's pool, sauna, steam room, spa bath, gym and fitness suite, as well as beauty spa.

Liz's Lodge holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Weybourne, a pretty coastal village set in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, is made up of flint cottages and straddles the main coastal road that runs through. The village is surrounded by well-ordered arable fields, woodland and heathland, and has a shingle beach which connects to the North Norfolk coastal path and a stunning three mile cliff-top walk to the sandy beach at Sheringham.
The village has a well-stocked shop, a great pub serving food and a well-preserved traditional country railway station from where you can catch the Poppy Line steam train on its way between Holt and Sheringham.
Weybourne is also home to the famous Muckleburgh Military Collection which is well worth a visit.
The Coasthopper bus service runs regularly through the village throughout the year and will take you to all the coastal villages between Kings Lynn and Cromer.
This is an excellent area for walking, sea-fishing on Weybourne beach, playing golf at nearby Sheringham and Cromer, and enjoying the beautiful coastline and surrounding countryside.
Only a short drive from Sheringham, Cromer and the lovely Georgian market town of Holt, Liz's Lodge will appeal to all kinds of holiday makers all year around.

Guest reviews

A real hideaway in the woods with the birds and squirrels! The Lodge was lovely and much bigger than we expected. All possible equipment in the kitchen to satisfy any budding chef and a lovely open family area for socialising. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are cosy and clean. We found the location was perfect for exploring the North Norfolk coast with most trips we made withing 15/20 minutes of the lodge. Holt is a lovely little town with some supurb shops and eateries. We went seal watching via Beans Boat Tours - well worth the money. Also the steam train from Sheringham to Holt was a good experience. We were very lucky with unseasonably bright and warm weather for February which all added to our stay. We'd definitely recommend it to others looking for a peaceful retreat away from it all but within and easy short drive from the coastal towns. Thank you.

A lovely weekend break with beautiful weeather - we have been lucky I think to have double figure temperatures and blue sunny skies. The lodge is very comfortable and well equipped. Very peaceful. We enjoyed trips with Beans Boat Tours from Morston Quay to see the seals, a trip on the steam train from Sheringham to Holt and a long beach walk at Wells. Lots to do for a weekend even out of season. Lovely family time and a real rest from the 'norm'. Thank You.

We have had a fantastic few days. The Lodge is beautiful, extremely well equipped and spotlessly clean. Have had lovely walks and enjoyed the use of the Woodlands Leisure Complex. Found previous recommendations extremely useful. A great family get together. Thank You.

Beautiful home, peaceful location, just what we needed for a lovely Christmas break. Have already recommended the Lodge to friends and will certainly consider booking again in the near future.

It has been a real treat to be able to walk the dogs straight from the door. The location of Liz's lodge is a big plus. The lodge itself is a great design, tastefully decorated and very easy to live in. We only live just outside Norwich but Norfolk has so much to offer that it was been quite a treat to spend quality time with the children and the dogs trying different walking tracks and using the swimming pool.

Thank you so much for a fabulous weekend in your lodge. Very comfortable beds and excellent shower, fully stocked kitchen and beautifully decorated. We loved the location and enjoyed walks with the dogs in the woods. We also loved Holkham and really enjoyed a meal at The Red Hart. We will absolutely be back, hopefully in the summer months so that we can enjoy the BBQ area and balcony.

We've had a lovely holiday at Liz's Lodge. We loved the pace and quiet of the wood, truly a relaxing retreat away from the city. sally, our spaniel, really enjoyed exploring the woodland and the beach at Wells next the sea was pure doggy heaven for ball chasing and paddling! the 1940's weekend at the north Norfolk railway was fabulous! The steam trains, bands, music and costumes were all fantastic. We ate out at several dog friendly pubs. the Wiverton Bell was lovely and cosy and served us exceptional food, I would definitely recommend the pork loin. Also the Pigs at Edgefield where the food was delicious, they even sold hand made dog treats. The Ship Inn at Weybourne is very popular so i would advise to book a table. Thank you for a great holiday in your lovely lodge.

Lovely home in beautiful setting. Very comfortable. Wish the weather had been a little better to make full use of the loungers on the decking. Out little granddaughter loved going on squirrel hunts in the woods, unfortunately they were sleeping every day! Pensthorpe is worth a visit for adults and children alike. We hope to return.

Lovely stay. grandchildren here for the weekend and they loved exploring in the woods. Peace and quiet, bucket full, yes. Weather couldn't have been better. Wildlife gradually moving back into the area., The Jolly Sailor, Dun Cow and The Blue Bell all provided lovely meals. Lovely lodge, well-appointed, well catered for.

Family holiday treat - words are not enough to describe our week at this wonderful Lodge, the description and photos on the website exceeded all expectations. Our two grandsons loved the location being able to ride their bikes and explore the forrest (3yrs and 6yrs) including the pass to the leisure centre, which was used even on the morning of our departure. A peaceful place to stay and not far to drive to the different coastlines. Loved the games table in the lounge area which kept us occupied on an evening, along with the added bonus of Netflix. It was good to BBQ on an evening, but the week was rather chilly so we had to eat inside, it would be good to have a patio heater (this is not a criticism just a suggestion). Plenty of nice restaurants/pubs/cafe to eat out both lunchtimes and evenings. Thanks Liz for sharing your wonderful Lodge, we would most definitely recommend this property to our friends and beyond. We really didn't want to leave at the end of our week.

As above (re: weather) but Tuesday was beautiful and we cycled to Cley and birds. Excellent. Joined by my sister for the rest of the week and more awful weather until yesterday. Felbrigg Hall in the rain (where we sheltered!) boat trip to seals yesterday and more bird watching. Have had a really good time. Like the others, would love to come again and see so much more!

Thanks for an amazing holiday experience - this house is absolutely gorgeous. Felt impelled to come here as it's identical to my ancient Fisher Price A-Frame house toy - but (if this is possible) even better! Nice to stay inside rather than just let small Fisher Price people stay in it. Weather has been terrible but still found things to do -Damien Hirst exhibition at Houghton Hall, bike ride at Burnham Market, nice meal at the pub in Weybourne. Hope to come again in sunnier times! Thank you!

Fab place. Fab location. What a wonderful place! Fantastic property in a beautiful location. Just what we needed for a lovely break. Very near to lots of interesting places to visit and fabulous dog walks on your door step. Kitchen extremely well equipped - everything there that you could possibly need. Everything of very high quality, beds very comfortable and plenty of seating and dining facilities to accommodate everyone staying there even if fully occupied. Would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone else.

We've had a lovely stay, the house is well-kitted out nad perfect for all the family. We enjoyed our trips to Cromer, Sheringham, Wells, Holt, Blakeney (we saw the seals!) and the Dun Cow is also somewhere we'd recommend! Highlights were crabbing at Morston, the cliff-top walk from Weybourne to Sheringham and the steam train. Thank you very much.

Highly recommended. A beautiful brand new forest lodge. We loved our weekend at Liz’s Lodge and we will return as soon as we can. The lodge is warm and very comfortable even on the coldest winter weekend. It was very well equipped and the beds very comfortable (not always the case in holiday rentals). The woods surrounding the lodge are fantastic for walking the dog. The kids really enjoyed the swimming pool pass too.The best holiday let we have stayed in! Highly recommended.

What a fabulous 'post Christmas' family break we've had in your fabulous home - just what we all needed! Time to be all together as a family - lots of walks in the forest, played numerous games - we just love your games table, made use of the gym, swimming pool, sauna and steam room. Visited the quaint little shops at Holt and had a bracing walk at Sheringham followed by the most excellent Fish and Chips (including gluten free) at The Sheringham Trawler Cafe (eat in or take away) , we ate in. It's located on the high street in Sheringham . Your whole home is so well equipped but the kitchen tops it all - every possible piece of equipment and utensil you could ever need! Many thanks.

We had a fabulous time, your house is amazing and very comfortable! The lodge is well equipped and great for kids and dogs as it feels very safe. Long lazy walks on the beach at Wells and trips to the pier in Cromer are lovely but coming back here to your amazing house at sunset is just so relaxing. We will definitely be back! Christmas 2017 - beautiful retreat, lovely location and lots to do - both in the forest and visiting the beaches. The lodge is really comfortable with everything you need. In fact, the beds were so comfortable that the teenage contingent barely got out of them! (only joking). Great way to spend Christmas, thank you.

Brilliant Christmas break
The lodge was fantastic and had everything needed to make a super comfortable stay. Lots of thought had been put into everything - from the welcoming Christmas tree and Champers to the equipment in the kitchen. It's a fantastic location and great for short and long walks in the forest as well as trips to beaches. We had one foul weather day and made use of the complimentary card for the leisure centre, which made/saved the day! Best view - from the dorma windows in the bedroom on a clear, starry, moonlit night. Whole family of 3 generations and the dog had a lovely Christmas. Thank you!

Thank you for an amazing stay!
We have had such a relaxing time in your beautiful lodge and can't wait to stay again next year. There was everything we could ever need and we were very happy to stay here for the whole weekend, playing games and spending time together.
We had a great Sunday lunch at the Anchor Inn and would definitely recommend. We are all sad to be leaving! Thanks again.

What a place to get away from it all! The boys had a great time in the forest building dens and hunting for animals. The Norfolk steam train is well worth the adventure, hopping on and off at the stations and enjoying 'Harry Potter' type compartments. Dinosaur Adventure Park is worth the 40 minute drive - a lot for the kids to enjoy all day, adults love it too. Looking forward to returning in 'summer' months to take advantage of all that Norfolk has to offer.

We had a fantastic stay in your wonderful house! You really have thought of everything, the house is so well stocked with everything you need. As an avid cook, I had a wonderful time creating yummy food in your kitchen.
The woodland setting is a fantastic place for the kids to run free and we had some great swims at Woodlands. We highly recommend the steam train, crabbing and lunch/dinner at The Gunton Arms in Thorpe Market. Thanks so much!
