Property details

Lifeboat Cottage is a picturesque 18th century flint cottage situated in a quiet side road in the heart of Brancaster, within twenty minutes walk to the beach.

In a former life it was the games room to the pub (now closed), and the cottage has undergone a refurbishment which includes a bespoke kitchen, carpets downstairs and redecoration. The house is thoughtfully furnished with some period furniture, original artworks and pretty extra touches making it a very comfortable place to stay.

Brancaster is known for its simply stunning beach. It stretches for miles backed by gentle sand dunes and the famous links golf course of The Royal West Norfolk Golf Club. Seals bask on the creek edges and children can safely paddle in the tidal lagoons.

Lifeboat Cottage holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Brancaster is known for its simply stunning beach. It stretches for miles backed by gentle sand dunes and the famous links golf course of The Royal West Norfolk Golf Club.
Seals bask on the creek edges and children can safely paddle in the tidal lagoons. The tide goes out a long way revealing the shipwreck of the SS Vina (beware of strong tides and do not venture out!) The sand is perfect for sandcastles and picnics. Kite surfers provide exciting entertainment on windy days.
Parking is a few yards from the beach and anyone who walks that little bit further will be rewarded with their own private stretch of sand!
The Ship public house has recently been reopened under Chris Couborough The Flying Kiwi Chef to great reviews.
Traditional ice-cream and lollies can be had from the booth on the beach!
Wildlife along the coast is abundant and accessible, Marsh Harriers wheel overhead along with Avocets, Oyster Catchers and Terns.
A trip would not be complete without tasting the famous mussels, in season when there is an 'R' in the month.

Guest reviews

The cottage couldn't have been better. Superbly clean, good parking space and admirably located in Brancaster.

Lifeboat cottage was easy to find just off the main road through brancaster on the coastal route. Only minutes from the beach car park, and close to local shops. Lifeboat cottage is full of character, and has a gated drive and area to sit out at the front. Even with the car park there was still room to sit out and eat dinner/bbq. The cottage was clean and tidy. Everything we needed was provided and pots, pans high quality (according to the wife). The walk in shower was fantastic after a day on the beach. Both bedrooms adequate with our two daughters sharing a lovely room with single beds, Our room had a double which was comfortable and provided a good nights sleep. The living area was again comfortable, and was nice to relax in after a busy day. Wifi provided was useful too. I can't think of any negatives, as everything had been thought of, from ice in the freezer, tea and coffee - plus washing liquid and sponges. everything easy to find and use. Home from home. We had a lovely stay and felt relaxed staying here. We will likely visit again!

The cottage was set back from the road in the village and was accessed by a short drive into the property. It's was well positioned in the village close to the local restaurant. Although an old building the cottage had been renovated well to add a number of features to accommodate holiday guests. It was comfortable, light and airy. Many places of interest are all well within easy reach from this location including the RSPB Centre and Sandringham House with shops and fishmonger a few minutes away. We would certainly take another stay here again in the near future.

Short break at New Year - we stayed at Lifeboat Cottage for New Year 2017. As a family of four, we found the cottage to be well equipped for our needs. The second bedroom was large enough to sleep two boys, one of whom is a teenager, very comfortably. The cottage is ideally located for walks down to Brancaster beach and the surrounding areas.

An ideal location for great walking and wildlife watching. While the cottage is small it has everything you'll need for your stay and the beds are really comfortable. Would recommend it!

We had a lovely stay at Lifeboat Cottage. It was cosy and had everything you could possibly need, in fact "home from home". Close to the beach with lots of interesting places to visit and a good choice of restaurants which are not too far away. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Great place to walk to the beach and coastal footpath. Cottage has everything you need with a really sweet little seating area outside which is a real sun trap.

Just returned from an extremely memorable week staying in Brancaster and that was in part due to Lifeboat Cottage! The accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped and a perfect base to walk The Norfolk Coastal Path. Thank you so much, my spirit is still out on those marshes!!
