Property details

Marram Cottage is an original fisherman’s cottage sympathetically renovated to retain its cosy charm while providing all the modern conveniences a family needs. Downstairs the living space is open plan and has a sitting room area with an open fire, dining area, kitchen with french doors leading to the rear courtyard garden and a downstairs bathroom. Upstairs there is a double bedroom with en suite bathroom and bunk bed room.
These fisherman’s cottages were the lifeblood of this community for centuries and the last fisherman to own the cottage was John Ullet, who gave the cottage its unique carved fireplace with fish motifs.

Surrounding local area

Brancaster Staithe, just a couple of minutes drive from Brancaster, bustles with sailors. Home to Brancaster Staithe Sailing Club, the harbour is a busy place. Fresh seafood and coffee can be had from the shed on the quay (in high season)or you can go up to The Jolly Sailors where children, muddy dogs and boots are welcomed. For more formal dining The White Horse provides a spectacular view of the marshes where you can enjoy the local seafood whilst watching the tide come in over the creeks. The Fish Shed gives you the opportunity to take home some great local produce. Kayaks and boats can be hired from Northshore Sport and Leisure. Brancaster Staithe is right on the Norfolk Coast Path. Fresh mussels can be bought on the quay direct from the fishermen, or try Mervyn in the village, he will have a sign out!

Guest reviews

We had such a wonderful week in this beautiful cottage. We took our two little dogs, The garden is really nice and safe for the dogs no chance of them escaping. Bedrooms are a nice size and there are two bathrooms. It is set in a perfect location, easy reach of Hunstanton, and wells. Brancaster beach is wonderful for walking dogs. The white horse pub is less than a 5 minute walk they serve incredible food and lovely gin. Deepdale cafe does the best full English I've ever eaten.I would definitely stay again, only criticism is it could do with a little bit of TLC

A delightful cottage for our week in Brancaster Staithe, light and cosy, and very well set up and equipped, with a thoughtful house information folder. Despite the rain much of the week, Marram Cottage has been an excellent base for our break and really relaxing. The village hall parking arrangement was perfect in addition to being able to walk readily to the Fish Shed, Burnham Deepdale and the White Horse, and round the corner to the harbour and the Crab Hut! Thank you for a lovely, restful holiday - and Norfolk Hideaways for all your help with the arrangements.
