Property details

Gorgeous Pillar Box House is a large, detached and striking, three-storey pink house which oozes style and character. Perfect for groups of friends or a larger family or two, this delightful abode is located in the rural Norfolk village, yet in easy reach pubs, shops and the coast and beaches too.

Situated in the small, rural hamlet of Hackford which is mentioned in the Domesday Book, the neighbouring market towns of Wymondham and pretty Georgian village of Hingham are close by.

Named after the red post box in one of its walls, the character doesn’t stop there. With a commanding reception hall, inglenook fireplace, wooden floors and timbered beamed ceilings throughout, the property is beautifully furnished and styled to an exceptionally high standard.

From the moment you walk through the door you are in awe of the reception hall. With a spacious beamed sitting room and inglenook fireplace with open fire.

The kitchen and dining area are particularly spacious and well-equipped and perfect for entertaining and come with a wood burning stove, ideal for enjoying suppers with good friends or equally a quiet and cosy night in during the cooler months. With a stable door to the garden you can let the sunshine in when the temperature rises.
The beamed sitting room is a mix of period features and modern amenities, with an inglenook fireplace as well as Sky TV. There are two further televisions, one in the library snug and one in the luxury master suite, which occupies the entire second floor.
In all there are four bedrooms; the master king-size suite with en-suite shower room, two double bedrooms and a twin bedroom; there is a family bathroom too.

Outside the property has a private fully-enclosed garden and separate side garden with lawn. A hot tub in the garden is the ideal way to relax after a day spent exploring the area.

The parish of Hackford is listed within the Domesday Book, and has Saxon origins. Together with nearby parishes, there is interesting archaeology, with evidence of activity from the Palaeolithic Period to modern day.
The pretty village of Hingham is two miles away and is steeped in history with a small selection of shops and a good pub overlooking the pretty village green.
Wymondham, 4 miles drive, is an attractive historic market town with many shops, a railway station, cafés and pubs. The massive towers of Wymondham Abbey are set against the green fields of the Tiffey Valley which is beautiful in its own right.
If you are seeking some retail therapy and entertainment, then the city of Norwich is 13 miles away and provides the opportunity for excellent shopping, a visit to the theatre, the castle and castle museum, the cathedral, The Forum, art galleries, pubs, fine restaurants, market square, cafés and delis.
The surrounding rural countryside around Hackford provides endless opportunities for cycling and walking and with Thetford Forest about 20 miles away, you can head out with a picnic and follow the well-marked footpaths and cycle trails which include some challenging routes. Go Ape at Thetford, offers some climbing and adventure activities too, if you are looking for something to make your heart race.
The Pingo Trail, an extraordinary and fascinating walk, and Thompson Park are just 10 miles away.
If you want to relax and rejuvenate, then Barnham Broom is 3 miles away where you can play golf and enjoy its leisure club.
