Property details

Chiffchaff cottage is perfect for two lovebirds. With the North Norfolk coast just a short drive away, this romantic luxury cottage is set in beautiful West Raynham and is the perfect escape for those wanting a cosy retreat to return to after a busy day walking, cycling or exploring.

Arrive at Chiffchaff and you will be greeted with a warm welcome. This lovingly converted flint cottage overlooks the village chapel, open countryside and the West Raynham Estate. Having been beautifully restored and styled, it still retains plenty of character which makes this little bolt hole so special.

Decorated in a mix of soft greens and creams, it is beautiful yet practical and you will appreciate the fabulous wood burning stove, perfect for snuggling up in front of on a cool winter’s evening, watching Amazon prime videos or taking advantage of the Blu-Ray player.

With a well-equipped kitchen you have everything you need to put together a delicious romantic meal. Or head outside on warmer days and dine alfresco in the courtyard area, or in the outside brick-built summer dining room. Beyond this you will find a fabulous enclosed private lawned garden, perfect if you have a little one or dog and for also finding a quiet spot to read a book or to enjoy an afternoon snooze. Don’t be surprised to find the odd hen come across your path, it’s all part of the countryside charm. There is shared access between the gardens, although this is not used often by the neighbours and therefore should not be a disturbance to your peace and quiet.

This romantic get away is perfect for couples or equally a young family wanting to escape from a busy world in a pretty peaceful village. Make sure you bring your walking boots or cycles, you will be rewarded with quiet lanes and some wonderful birdlife and wildlife.

Surrounding local area

Within an easy 20 minute drive to the sandy beaches and big skies of the North Norfolk coast.
The RSPB reserves at Snettisham, Titchwell and Cley-next-the-Sea are also in easy reach and for the foodies visit the nearby good local pubs and restaurants including the famous Dabbling Duck at Great Massingham, which is often frequented by the younger members of the Royal Family when they are staying at Sandringham or Anmer Hall.
Head to the Raynham Hall Estate in the village, where you can enjoy strolling along the banks of the River Wensum and in the beautiful parkland where you are likely to see a large number of birds and wildfowl.
There are plenty of easy walking routes on waymarked paths and along quiet county lanes from the village too.
If you want to explore further afield then jump in the car and head to the coast and visit Holkham or Wells beaches where the white soft sand goes on forever.
Burnham Market with its pretty shops, galleries, cafés and deli is a must, as is Pensthorpe’s nature park, just outside Fakenham.
Or if you're looking for some culture and history, then take a ride out to Houghton Hall, Holkham Hall or Sandringham, HM The Queen’s country residence.
The RSPB and Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserves are easily accessible and the city of Norwich is worth a day trip too with its castle and old cobbled lanes.

A lovely North Norfolk village with very friendly neighbours, great for children and dogs. Beautiful beaches approx 30mins away, which are very accessible and dog friendly.

While not our first choice (having been moved from a cottage in Ringstead) ChiffChaff cottage was a delight. Clean and comfortable, Chiffchaff cottage is not as close to the coast as the village of Ringstead but its location makes it ideal as it is more central to the area. I would certainly visit again.
