This delightful white-washed traditional, detached character cottage is in a stunning location overlooking the beautiful salt marshes at Thornham. With splendid views over the fields and just a minute’s walk to the coastal path, the cottage has a lovely homely feel with an open-plan kitchen/dining room and a separate living room with a cosy wood burning stove.

Commanding wonderful views from all the front windows towards the sea, you are only a short walk to the beach and a few minutes to the centre of the village with its plethora of eateries. With three award-winning pub/restaurants; The Orange Tree; The Chequer's and The Lifeboat Inn and the Thornham Deli cafe/restaurant in the centre of the village with its excellent local produce, you are spoilt for choice. With so much walking, eating and discovering literally on your doorstep, you won't even have to take your car out if you don't want to.

Church Cottage is perfect for those who want to unwind and enjoy their surroundings.

Church Cottage holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Thornham is an old smuggling village right on the North Norfolk Coast and now is one of the most popular villages to holiday for a short break or longer stay.
Wide expanses of salt marsh separate the village from the sea and it is a paradise for walkers and bird watchers.
There are several great places to eat including Thornham Deli which sells all manner of local produce and great coffee, cake, breakfasts and lunches.
The Lifeboat Inn, an old smuggling haunt complete with heavy beams and roaring fires is delightful any time of year and The Orange Tree is a lovely gastro pub.
Enjoy pizza and pasta at The Chequer's before heading off to the beach for the day which is reached by walking over the sea defence and across the salt marshes. You'll be rewarded by peace and quiet and a stunning sandy beach where you can escape from everyday life.
The property has easy access to the amazing bird watching and nature reserves nearby and the golf courses at Brancaster and Hunstanton and of course, the lovely local sandy beaches including Thornham.
Head to Burnham Market if you want a spot of retail therapy with its lovely shops, cafe's and art galleries.
In the summer months, visit the village farm shop where you can pick your own fruit and explore some lovely retail outlets.

Guest reviews

We both loved the fantastic cottage - Brilliant location for all parts of the North norfolk coast. Great floor layout, just fantastic for relaxed holiday living. Loved the deer and the quirky retro furniture in the living room... G-plan coffee table and the carefully curated but not over done art works.

Fantastic cottage, location and weather. Unforgettable memories of childhood in Great Yarmouth; Walsingham, Titchwell and much more. We had a wonderful holiday at Church Cottage. Look forward to the next visit.

The best stocked kitchen of anywhere we have stayed. Thank you for the tea, coffee, milk and washing up liquid. we have had a lovely week, the weather could have been better; but it was a bank holiday so what can we 'expect!!?'

we have had a wonderful week in Church Cottage as out first family holiday with our 12 week old daughter. The cottage was brilliant. Excellent layout for us to feel that we had some chill time as well as playtime; and we made it to pubs, deli and fish and chips plus plenty of walks - Norfolk sea air a welcome break from London in this heatwave! Thanks for helping us create as first family memories!

i will be dreaming of this gorgeous cottage - I feel so rejuvenated having spent a sunny weekend here. it was lovely to explore the local area, from the market to the beach - much needed tranquillity away from the city. I have grown a fondness for Thornham and I look forward to my next summer trip here! Church Cottage instantly feels like home.

A very lovely stay. Hightlights included; so much sunlight through the windows; sunset over the coastal path, getting the woodburner working (fan on top!), Eric's Fish and Chips and the Yurt Bar, Brancaster Beach nearby, all the flowers and all the birds/ducks! Very comfortable and couldn't have asked for better weather or a better place to enjoy!

Thank you for a wonderful week (almost) in your lovely cottage. It is warm, cosy and the bed is so comfortable. Happy hours reading in front of the fire while the blizzard raged outside. The Deli does good meals and we had a sensational Sunday lunch at the Lifeboat Inn. Essential to book. May everyone who stays here comes away rested, refreshed, and encouraged.

We had a brilliant week based at Church cottage. We hardly used the car as we walked to the mashes, beach, local deli and pubs. The cottage was very comfortable and has lovely views over the marshes - we saw lots of different types of birds.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Church Cottage. Everything we needed was supplied and the house felt very welcoming and cosy. the views from the window were beautiful and there was lots of wildlife to see. The local pubs and eating places at Drove Orchard were all within walking distance and provided tasty food and good ale. Hope to return in the future.

We stayed in February and even though the weather was as you would expect at this time of year, the cottage was warm and comfy, the pubs nearby welcoming with good food and the walks (of which there are many) were a great way to work up an appetite to enjoy the meals. We have stayed in this cottage too many times to mention and never once been disappointed.
It is a treasure.
