Dolphin holiday cottage location

Surrounding local area

Burnham Market is often referred to as North Norfolk’s loveliest village and is located just a few minutes from the coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Undoubtedly for many, Burnham Market is the jewel in North Norfolk’s crown; a stunning Georgian village with a various greens, which are surrounded by 18th century houses, a plethora of shops, trendy boutiques, café’s, restaurants, deli’s and of course The Hoste, still one of the best known and most popular places to eat and drink in North Norfolk. Make sure you also pay a visit to 20 North Street, Twenty9 and The Lord Nelson pub/restaurant which serves good food and ales all day. There is also a chinese takeaway and fish and chip shop located at the garage on the edge of the village and closeby you will also find the village supermarket. Burnham Market is unique in that it still boasts plenty of independent shops, including a fishmonger’s, butchers, greengrocers and a good wine merchant plus there are two good bookshops. Just a short drive to the sailing harbours at Brancaster Staithe and Burnham Overy Staithe and the Royal West Norfolk Golf Course at Brancaster it is no wonder Burnham Market is popular all year round. Don't forget to visit nearby Burnham Thorpe, the birthplace of Admiral Lord Nelson. Make sure you visit the beaches at Brancaster, Holkham and Wells-next-the-Sea which are all within a 10 minute drive away and the RSPB Bird Reserve at Titchwell.

Guest reviews

We love Norfolk, have visited many times and Dolphin is most definitely one of our favourite cottages! it had everything we required. It was clean, comfortable, convenient and we look forward to a return visit (dates permitting!). The dogs adored Brancaster beach and at £2 for up to 2 hours parking, it was good value for the area! Many thanks.

We've had a lovely week and enjoyed staying at the Dolphin, so quiet and so close to the shops. In Burnham Market we've enjoyed shopping at Gurneys Fish Shop and The Humble Pie Deli above. We also ate at Tillys, The Tuscan Farm Shop and NoTwenty9. Our favourite walk on the beach was from Holkham to Wells having lunch at the beach cafe. We also ate at The Victtoria in Holkham. Everywhere was so dog friendly which has made the week a lot of fun. Also thank you for the water bowl for Kiko we went straight for a drink when we arrived!

We have enjoyed our stay in the Dolphin, very spacious and comfortable and easy access to rules for exploring. We can see the area is so dog friendly, we re almost tempted to get one. The conservatory was great for games and relaxing. It visiting with children we can recommend the play area by the tennis courts in Burnham Market. Enjoyed visiting Holkham, Pensthorpe, Wells Beach and much more. Would recommend The Dolphin and Burnham Market as a place to stay for families and friends.

Dolphin was perfect. We had a lovely rest and with beautiful weather we could ask for no more. The little touch of dog bowl and arrival treats for our dogs was lovely. We really needed the rest and The Dolphin and surrounding area delivered this for us. Thank you

Had a wonderful time here. A great base of operations for exploring. Recommend the breakfast's at Tilly's. Our dogs like it there too. Free dog biscuit - yummy!

A wonderful first visit to this area. Accommodation delightful, well presented and an excellent base for the village and wider attractions. Can't recommend anything specific, just do it all. Boys loved the conservatory, toasty warm and ideal for watching the rabbits meandering in and out of the garden! Would definitely recommend.

We enjoyed the week we spent in Dolphin. The weather was brilliant and we didn't need coats for most of the week. The garden was very restful, particularly with a glass of something cool. The bungalow was in a good position for groceries and the village has three very good eating places.
Bus services to and from the village were very good and always arrived on time. The owners were very helpful when we needed a TV reset and would definitely return another year.

We had a great week here at Dolphin. Very peaceful and restful to the point of falling asleep in the conservatory more than once! We have been to the surrounding areas for quite a few years and stayed in many places, and this has been one of the nicest. We tend to walk the dogs on the beaches which go on for miles, unfortunately so do the dogs! Fish and Chips at Erics was brilliant as always. Tilly's in Burnham Market was friendly and dog friendly, cakes are delicious as is the breakfast. Super place to stay, easy to get to other places. Had a fabulous week, Thank You! Hope to return.

Stay at Dolphin was superb. Had a lovely weeks stay at Dolphin in Burnham Market. The bungalow was clean and beautifully decorated. There were only the two of us and our two Border Terriers so had plenty of room. We felt very comfortable and relaxed throughout the week, a home from home .
A perfect location for exploring everywhere up and down the North Norfolk coast.

A perfect stay at Dolphin. We arrived at Dolphin on a very cold and snowy weekend. The owner very generously gave us advice about local road conditions, let us arrive early and put up the heating. It was wonderful to arrive there. The house is very comfortable and has everything you need. From there we were able to easily go to a different beach each day and to a restaurant at night. We would definitely recommend Dolphin for a stay.

A last minute search for an Autumn break in North Norfolk enabled us to be the first people to stay at Dolphin cottage which had just had a complete refurbishment. We fully appreciated walking into a property that had just had a total upgrade.

The property is in a quiet culdesack with parking at the edge of Burnham Market and only 5 minutes walk from Burnham's vibrant centre.

What a delight to enter this refurbished bungalow in one of our favourite spots in Norfolk. We were able to relax and enjoy all our usual places. Holkham Beach, Brancaster and Holme - taking the path to the Norfolk Wildlife Centre for coffee. For those guests who haven't visited the area, The Lodge at Old Hunstanton, The Ship at Brancaster and The White Horse Brancaster Staithe are all dog friendly and excellent, as are many more. Congratulations Jules and Guy, we hope further guests will appreciate The Dolphin as we have.
